Six months ago, this worked with no problem. And first of all, before anyone asks, the files I'm working with are all on my C drive.I've updated the source content for a manual (just small things, like misspelled words--no structural changes), and when I publish from Frame to RH, it doesn't seem to pull in the topic files. It also doesn't generate an !SSL! folder at all. My topic markers are all still in place from the last time I published, and none of our settings have changed. We haven't had any software upgrades. I am no RoboHelp expert, so please help if you can. Thanks in advance!Laura
I'm using RoboHelp 11. The software product I'm documenting is modular so the help is also divided into many chms (requirement). One of the other requirements is that the TOC from the master project appear, no matter which which chm contains the link called by the software. I've done this with merged WebHelp (kudos to Peter Grainge), however I haven't been successful doing it for HTML help using RoboHelp. Has anyone attempted this successfully? Any tips would be appreciated.
Hi Everyone,I recently came across the following as a result of a web search..Locationhttp://alist.adobe.co.uk/devnet/robohelp/articles/merged_help_06.htmlPotential problem highlighted with merged projects"CHM filenamesAvoid the use of underscores, the hash symbol and suchlike in the names of the CHM files you create. They have been found to cause problems with merged Microsoft HTML help. Stick with alphanumeric characters and no spaces."Has anyone experienced problems related to this and if so what exactly?I am usually led to believe that underscores in a filename is a fairly safe practice???
RoboHelp11 is generating a TOC where locations of the form xxxx.htm#aaa have a 'bc-' and a trailing number appended. The same location as a link in the text does not.Presumably there is some setting that causes this. How can I turn off this appending?
Hi,I am using RH9 that comes with the Adobe TechCom Suite 3.5. My MS Word version is 2010.While genating a Word Document from Robohelp, using the Printed Documentation Option, Some files in the HTML are not being converted to Word. I am facing this issue even when I select all topics in the Topic Selection window. Please provide a solution for this.
I'm using RoboHelp 11 to produce WebHelp. The documentation was previously written in FrameMaker and posted in PDF format, however it has undergone many releases since those days. I'm now being asked to create the help in PDF and WebHelp. Not really an issue except that the help format does not look particularly good in PDF (not designed for both). Ideally I'd like to just use the map file from the original Frame to RoboHelp conversion in reverse (with a little editing)--to convert the RoboHelp styles to the original FrameMaker formats when I create the PDF, however A) there doesn't seem to be an option for that, and B) the original FrameMaker to RoboHelp map file doesn't seem to have been preserved after that conversion. Is it there and I'm just not seeing it? If necessary I can just create another CSS to redefine the styles, but if I don't have to, I rather not.
RoboHelp 10, using Multiscreen HTML5 layout; Desktop Layout:All of my searches result in the same answers, which tell me to insert javascript:history.go(-1) and javascript:history.go(1) into the Link to field of the Hyperlink Properties dialog for my arrow button images in the Screen Layout Editor. However, all this does is to enable the user to navigate pages already visited (i.e., history). What I need is for the navigation buttons to just page through all of the topics in the order in which the FrameMaker book's pages go (e.g., page Next from 1 through 868 in that sequence).I sincerely hope that I do not have to manually create a browse sequence for over 800 pages, and four levels of TOC, and if I create a browse sequence automatically from the TOC, doesn't that just allow the user to click through the topics alphabetically? The vanilla Screen Layout Editor has a 'previous' and a 'next' button, next to the 'print'' icon (which works, by the way). Why don't these browse sequence button
I want to test the Responsive HTML5 layouts on a phone and tablet. We do not support SharePoint. I have uploaded the Responsive_HTML5 folder contents to a Google Drive and DropBox, but I can't get the project to launch. Other ideas?
I'm trying to generate a project using RoboHelp 8 HTML. Inconsistently after generating and/or batch generating the project the output is not reflecting the changes made. In the most recent instance, part of the new topic is appearing in the output, but not the entire topic. The information that is missing is also sporadically missing within the topic. Until the most recent instance, I was thinking this was a cache issue, but I'm not so sure anymore. Has anyone expereinced anything like this or have any ideas on what I may be doing incorrectly? Thanks,Heather
Suddenly, my main css (named "Sol8.css) isn't showing up in the Project Manager... it shows everywhere else, but there.. see attached image. I have no idea why this is suddenly the case. I would like to be able to access it for editing in the HTML editor within RoboHelp 10... what happened?HELP! and Thanks...
Hi,Using a newly installed version of RoboHelp v11, I find that there's no 'RoboHelp for Word' any more, so I thought I'd import my 'RoboHelp for Word' projects into 'RoboHelp HTML'. I last edited these projects in 'RoboHelp for Word' v9.Using default settings, the import completes but:the first topic is preceded by page of nonsense font codes:very few of the embedded, contents or index hyperlinks;the 'URL' entries in the project manager are mostly garbage, and look as though there's some sort of Unicode issue. Is there a guide somewhere for the average idiot like me as to how to reliably import old 'RoboHelp for Word' projects? Thanks for any advice.Trevor Cooper
Hi all, when I use the "Export" function to export a responsive layout into an SLZ file and then in another project (also in a new test project) use the "Import" function to import it, then the result is bugged. Using the preview causes Robohelp to crash and generating the output produces a scrambled HTML page without any layout. However, if I manually copy the layout files from the old project (after creating a responsive layout with the same name in the new project), then the result works.Another problem I found - using either procedure I cannot change the layout properties like background colors anymore (rightclick > edit) once I transfer it to a new project.Do you have these problems too, are you aware of a solution?Robert
RoboHelp 9 – recently I added content to a project I created over a year ago. I saved & generated the project as usual, when I tried to view it in Chrome nothing displayed and where the content should be, Chrome just flickers. I did the same with IE and only the Welcome page loaded with no other functionality. I deleted my edits and the same thing occurred. Any thoughts? My original project still functions since I never uploaded the newer version. I’ve been using Web Help as my Single Source Layout, that’s the way my lead developer wants it. In full disclosure, I’m not a developer nor do I play one on TV.
Our UI person is helping me fix the HTML5 screen layout (via RH10)... and we can't seem to get the Navigation Pane functionality to work... like hide/show and prev/nex. she believes that this is related to a java script we need to include and/or edit, but we aren't sure which js it is. I looked at both Peter's and Willam's sites, I saw some info relating to js and Webhelp navigation, but nothing specific to HTML5...Can anyone provide or point me to that script?THANKS!kb
HiI have MS 2007 Word doc where I have embedded MP4 videos. When I import that doc to RH project, the video gets in as a black image. How can I get it right? Please advice.Sreekanth
Greetings, all!I have an inherited project that, for now, includes references to an external Learning Center and Knowledge Center. These will eventually go away, but we need to keep them for now. The reference includes two URL links and a brief description of what each site offers. I put these in dropdown text at the bottom of the default page, but since the project uses csh it would be better to include it at the bottom of each page. The master page footer is an obvious choice, but the footer does not support dropdown text. Do any of you, who often have awesome hacks, know how to make this work? Thanks,Laurie
RoboHelp HTML 11, Internet Explorer 11. Multiscreen HTML5 layout.I'm trying to experiment with the different ways of opening links: New Window, Whole Page, Same Frame, etc. Yesterday the different variations worked the way they should, but today every link in the TOC opens as if set to "Default (none)". As for Links on topic pages, "New Window" opens a new tab, and "Whole Page" seems to go to Default (including the sidebar, which I gather should not be there).Any ideas?-- Shawn
Company wants me to use responsive layout. I need to be able to accommodate users that cannot use the mouse. The tab key does not appear to work to tab through the topics when I generate HTML5 responsive layout. Do I need to add more tagging to the HTML to accomplish this?

Hi Peter,When I apply conditional tags, RoboHelp crashes.History: A large project with several conditional tags - worked fine in RH6. When upgraded to RH8 the conditional tags freezes the webhelp generation with msvrc80.dll error. Works fine in RH8 without applying conditional tags, but I HAVE to apply the tags. All other projects have no problem with conditional tags - just this one crashes.Read all (well, almost all) your suggestions on this. Incorrect table format seems to be the cluprit. What do you suggest? How do I locate the illformed table? It is a large project.I looked at your snippet on this. My project:(a) contains conditional tags(b) does not seem to have any <td_null> tags.I have to urgently release this with the conditions tags - what are my options now? The size of the zipped project is 63 MB.Hemtya
I have tried accessing the "Insert Image" option using the various methods (menu, toolbar icon, right click menu), but once the dialog box is open, I click on the browse folder to find the image that I added via Explorer, but nothing happens and the app freezes. The only thing I am able to do is close RH via the Task Manager. I have tried rebooting and also tried doing this in multiple projects to make sure it's not my main project with the problem. This same thing happens every time. I CAN add an image that has already been imported into the project... I tried doing that then using Image Properties to bring in the newly created image... same result... freezes the app. My project is only about 50MB in size... and I probably only have 2 or 3 dozen images in it so far.I am hoping you are not going to say uninstall and re-install because I don't have the disc with me today... working from home.Help please.
Hi. I'm tire kicking RH11 / FM 12 with the trial copy.On 3 or 4 separate documents, I can successfully print to .docx format, but I can't print to PDFs. When I try, the program quits with message just below. I've also attached the compbilation log, which ends with "Internal error encountered, Failed to generate Printed Documentation. "I can print the resulting .docx doc to PDF from Word. But that's an extra step I'd rather not have to take.Any tips on what might be causing this PDF crash would be appreciated. I see that other's have had similar problems in the past, but its not clear if their was conclusion on their issues. Thanks in advance.Kurt Starting to build Printed Documentation...
