I wonder if anyone can point me in the right direction to change the default place holder text (-Search-) that's shown in the search field in Responsive Layouts?I need to translate this text to German. I found the 'localisation' section in the code at the end of the 'search' layout page and made the change there, but this hasn't had any effect.I'm thinking that perhaps I need to 'switch on' localisation somewhere? Thanks!Claire
Hi all,Apologies if this is in the wrong area, it could also be related to RoboSource Control.I have a problem with my entire system. I am getting regularly kicked out of programs when I try to add an attachment or save something. It occurs when a standard Windows 'Save As' or 'Open file' dialog box is opened to browse to a file path, and this regularly leads to being kicked out of the whole program. This happens in Chrome, all the microsoft office programs, outlook, adobe acrobat reader - everything in fact where I use one of these standard Windows file browsing dialog boxes. The kicking out is pretty indiscriminate - it doesn't happen every time. Sometimes it will take me 5 or 6 attemps to save something or add an attachment, having to reload the program each time. Sometimes, but rarely, it will work first time. The only program it doesn't happen in is Roboscreen Capture and Robohelp, which is odd in itself. Both the two other technical writers in my department have both exactly the s
I need to import .SVGs into my RoboHelp 11 HTML5 project, but that file type doesn't seem to be supported. I tried pasting the appropriate HTML code into a topic, but the SVG graphic doesn't show. Am I missing something, or is there a work-around?
When I apply a style to text that I've copied and pasted from Word into a Robohelp topic, the style's formatting is not being applied. The dropdowns for the font style and size associated with the selected style remain blank, and the text's formatting does not change. So for example, I am selecting text in the topic that is arial 10 and apply a bodytext style that is defined to have Calibri 11, but it doesn't work. This has started happening recently and has practically made the application unusable. Any ideas for why this is happening and how I can fix it? On an unrelated note, we did have an issue with corruption, where I was getting a root.fpj error, so I upgraded from RH 9 to RH 11, created a whole new project, and imported the TOC and topics from the corrupted project. I haven't gotten the root.fpj error again since doing that (a week ago) but the style issue is still occurring after the upgrade and new project creation.
Hello, all,I have a topic in an RH 10 project that includes hyperlinks to two Autodesk Revit (.rvt) files. Users need to download these files as part of the procedure described in the topic. When I test the links locally, they work without a problem. However, after I publish (multiscreen HTML5) to our server, the links throw a "404 - page not found" error when clicked. I've verified that the files are included in the project as baggage files. I've found that I can zip the files up and create links to the zip files instead as a workaround, but it means more steps for the user (which, of course, I'm trying to avoid).Does anyone know of any solutions to this problem? Are there simply certain file types that Robohelp doesn't support as linked files from a topic? Thanks in advance for your help!
We generate WebHelp and CHMs as part of our ClearCase build process. Our Configuration Management Engineer is trying to develop a command line script to call the WebHelp2CHM Converter. He says he can open WebHelp but at that point the script hangs. Does anyone have experience running the WebHelp2CHM converter script from a command line? Thanks.
Hello all,I noticed a problem in the FrameMaker to Robohelp conversion output. I am using TCS, Framemaker project linked to Robohelp. Outputs are EPUB and Webhelp. My issue exists in both EPUB and Webhelp output. Some of my source images are in EPS and in AI format, as these formats print nicely in PDF. Some of the illustrations include dashed lines. When I convert the projects, in the Robohelp output, the dashed lines are replaced by solid lines. I contacted support and their response is: Ai, SVG and EPS file format is not supported with RobohelpThis puts a damper on the concept of "single-sourcing" since I'm finding I have to make more and more manual tweaks to my source...Has anyone run into this? Did you find a solution? I'm not an expert in Illustrations, so kind of stuck here.I can convert these images to JPG or PNG, but such text based images don't look good in PDF in these formats. (the text is not sharp)Any ideas? Since I own TCS 4, would I be able to contact support for AI and
Hi,It is easy to remove the index from the WebHelp output. We also want to remove it from the XML output. How do I do that? Thanks,Rakefet
Anyone tested FM12 to RH9?I faintly recall reading about that somewhere on an Adobe site / forum, but I don't recall where.
Hi, I've been testing the output of the Responsive HTML5 Layout in RH11 and have been running into some display problems for which I'd like some Help before we make a purchasing decision! In our current version, RH9, the WebHelp output displays as shown: The Desktop Screen Profile is set with its defaults of Width: Minimum 1296 and Maximum 99999.In RH11, the opening page Responsive HTML5 layout output displays as follows:After clicking the TOC icon of the output, the Table of Contents topics display seemingly as expected (except it may be double spaced, but the content DOES flow across the page):After clicking a topic to open it, the text does NOT flow across the page. Instead, it looks like this:After opening a topic of the Table of Contents, that text also displays in a narrow band rather than flowing across the page. Then I notice in the left bottom bar an Error on the page. What do I need to do to ensure the text flows across the width of the page, the graphics aren't stretched, and
RoboHelp HTML 11, Captivate 7I imported several Captivate videos (published as HTML5) into my project. When I play the videos, two things happen:1. I get the error "Adobe Captivate: This browser does not support some of the content in the file you are trying to view. Use one of the following browsers: Internet Explorer 9 or later..." I am in fact using Internet Explorer 11.2. The videos have no Play, Back, and Rewind buttons. The original videos don't give me these problems, only the imported ones after they are published in RH.In my original post, Captiv8r suggested I copy all the video files into Baggage. I'm not really familiar with Baggage; would I have to link or insert these files separately to the topics? Or would they be used automatically? Thanks.
Hi,I am currently using the trial version of RoboHelp as we are evaluating using it and moving away form Author-It. I have imported some test pages and managed to get the formatting and TOC the way I want them and now I am looking at help for our mobile apps. Is there an easy way of outputting in a format compatible with a cell phone? I have found File > Generate > Native Mobile App. Each of the options displayed under this seems to involve me having to download 2-3 different software packages. Is there an easier way to do this? Thanks in advance, Louise
Now that there are header and footer options for directly publishing to PDF, I was hoping the other feature on my wish list was implemented, namely, "repeat header row" for tables that break across to a new page. Is there a way to do this now without having to first publish to word docx and use word doc template?
RoboHelp HTML 11, Captivate 7, Internet Explorer 11, Adobe Flash Player 15.0.0We have a number of videos, each published as a separate Captivate project in HTML5 format. We then imported them (specifically their "index.html" files) into RoboHelp. When I output the files as Responsive HTML, the videos appear correctly except there is no Play/Stop/Info bar below it.When we View the topics, or if we output them as WebHelp, the videos simply don't appear. The Play/Stop/Info bar does appear below where the video should be. In fact, the progress bar shows that the video is running. However, clicking the Info button shows that we're using Captivate 4, when we're actually using version 7.Can either of these issues be fixed? Thanks.-- Shawn
I'm having problems with my generation Webhelp Adobe Robohelp 11. I use a template with a CSS file, but the file I set the CSS "font-family: Segoe UI, Tahoma," and at the time of developing these settings are typically applied but after generating the webhelp the font that appears in browsers is not any of that set, but the Times New Roman.Googled and not found similar problem. The .chm file is generated normally. Thanks!
This is not the same issue as the current RH10 fix for webhelp resolves. We've noticed that, once a HTML help file (eg. helpfile.chm) is generated in RoboHelp 10, the pop-ups no longer display as auto-sized. They do if the .chm file is opened by itself but no longer do when the file is accessed as context sensitive help within the program being used.Has anyone else experienced this? The pop-up windows opened are wAAy too small now to be effective.RoboHelp9 compiled and called from program: RoboHelp10 compiled and called from program: At first I thought there might be some kind of character limitation that the auto-size is working with but it's more the pop-up box size that's the issue. Any number of characters (and this is font dependant of course) that won't fit into the ~2 1/2"w x ~3/4" h box (or ~6cm w x ~2 cm h) causes the vertical and horizontal scrollbars on the pop-up box to become active, rather than the box simply auto-sizing to fit the text as it did wh
I am using RH 11 on Windows 8 with SharePoint Foundation. I had setup my version control previously on TFS/SharePoint site but the IT department got rid of that site, so I disconnected from that version control and then created a new version control link to a new SharePoint site for this project. When I set it up, it loaded the files into the library, then hung with a spinning circle and "not responding" in Task Manager for several hours before I finally just closed RoboHelp. I started RoboHelp again about an hour later to see if it would open the project. It appeared to open the project, but hangs, not allowing me to work on the project. I checked to see if the sample project would open and it behaved the same way--hanging and never allowing me to work with RoboHelp. I checked and the cpd file doesn't seem to be in the SharePoint library and Clear project cache (.cpd file) before opening any project was selected. I tried deselecting it--same results. I finally found a way to dis
RoboHelp HTML 11My project has a linked Word document and several Captivate videos. I want the topics to have links or popups to run the videos. If I insert the popups into the topics while in RoboHelp, they would be lost whenever I update the link to the Word document. I know I can set the topics to "ignore" updates, and maybe I'll do that as each one is finalized.Meanwhile, I wonder if there is a way to insert the popup links (or buttons) into the Word document itself, so they will persist?
Hello,I'm currently using RoboHelp HTML 11 (11.0.3.268) and have created a couple web help projects using the Responsive HTML5 layout (since the help files are for applications designed to run on iOS devices). I would like to provide an easy way for users to print both individual topics as well as collections of topics (a group of sub-topics under one TOC book for example). However, the only print options I can find are for printing individual topics via the right-click menu either within a given topic ('Print') or from the Search Results or Index screens ('Print Target').Does anyone know of a way to add a print control within RoboHelp that would make it easier for users to print single topics or a TOC book and all it's subtopics, much the same way they are able to in .CHM files? Thanks in advance for any help or guidance you can provide.Sincerely,Dave
I generated WebHelp output files on 11/19/14 (less than 2 weeks ago) in which the browse sequence works as expected. When I generated output today, I noticed that the browse sequence buttons were not displaying. I'm using RH 10 with IE 11. I am the only person who accesses the RoboHelp project files for this project.I checked the WebHelp project settings and noticed the "Enable Browse Sequence" box was not checked. I checked it. I regenerated the project. The browse buttons now appear but remain disabled. I used the Browse Sequence Editor to regenerate the browse sequence from the TOC. It did not work as expected. Instead of following the TOC sequence, it put all the first-level books at the beginning of the browse sequence, then all the second-level books, and so on. Just the same, I saved and regenerated the project. The browse buttons still appeared, but still remained disabled. I used the Browse Sequence Editor
Hello All,Want to implement / suggest replacement of RoboHelp , will it be FrameMaker will be the best choice ?Can some provide all the features of RoboHelp and what all things not supported by Adobe FrameMaker ?Any comparison document. Thanks in advance!
We have been running pen tests looking for vulnerabilites on applications my company has created in order to be PCI certified. I built webhelp systems for these applications using RoboHTML v9.The pen test has indicated that ehlpdhtm.js is suspect with the following message:WebInspect detected the use of an ActiveX object. This could indicate a vulnerability is present if a vulnerable public version of the Microsoft Active Template was utilized. There are three vulnerabilities in the public versions of the Microsoft Active Template Library (ATL) included with Visual Studio. Applications and components created with these versions of ATL are vulnerable to remote code execution and information disclosure attacks. Visual Studio itself is not vulnerable to these issues. In these three vulnerabilities, ATL processes data incorrectly which can lead to memory corruption, information disclosure, and instantiation of objects without regard to security policy. After Visual Studio is patched, it wi
Tool: Robohelp 11, webhelp, using DUCC (dynamic user-centric content) Question: DUCC generates its own output files for each Content Category you create. However, my use of DUCC is simple, only toc/indexes. Can output size be reduced?Reason: 1) good to know. My use of DUCC may be more complex next time. 2) A software build process has many steps and players. While an added 50MB is small potatoes sizewise, it would be courteous to reduce time if not needed.Possible method I can think of: Perhaps there's a dialog box option to redirect the DUCC tocs/indexes to the main topics instead of generating a separate set of files.DetailsMy output sizesNon-DUCC webhelp output is 25MBAdding 2 DUCC Content Categories totals 75MBMy user's Help selectionsProduct Help (default, used by about half of the users, inclusive toc/index)Manager Help (unique toc/index)User Help (unique toc/index)My use of DUCC is perhaps the simplest: Only toc/index differAll have same conditional text and languageSearch
RoboHelp html 11I have a linked Word document in my project called "Draft 7". I've been updating it over time and I'm past Draft 7, but I'm afraid if I import Draft 8 I won't be able to use the custom-made TOC I made for Draft 7. (The topics and headings are mostly the same in the two drafts)I need to either:a) Change the link so it refers to Draft 8 instead of Draft 7b) Remove Draft 7, link Draft 8, and have the TOC (and any other settings) apply to Draft 8 instead, or c) Start a new project with Draft 8 and copy the TOC (and any other settings) from the Draft 7 project.Which is best?Thanks.-- Shawn
RoboHelp HTML 11I have a Word document linked to the RH project. Some of the topics have yet to be completed, and I'd like to be able to know at a glance which ones those are. I'd like to see them either in the project output or in some kind of listing in RH itself.(My original plan was, in the Word document, to put square brackets around my "notes" in the text, then search for them in the finished project. But in RH you can't search for "[")
