Hi,I have downloaded and install Robohelp server 9, configured it with tomcat 7 as mentioned in this video tutorial http://blogs.adobe.com/techcomm/files/2012/11/Install-Configure-Publish-on-RoboHelpServer9.mp4But while try to sign in RoboHelp Server Web Administration I am getting the following error.I ll be really thankful if someone can help me to fix it. I am using default MS Access.2014-08-22 18:53:53.101 [WARN] localhost-startStop-1 adobe.robohelp.server.DatabaseManager - java.sql.SQLException: [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified at sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbc.createSQLException(JdbcOdbc.java:6956) at sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbc.standardError(JdbcOdbc.java:7113) at sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbc.SQLDriverConnect(JdbcOdbc.java:3072) at sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcConnection.initialize(JdbcOdbcConnection.java:323) at sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver.connect(JdbcOdbcDriver.java:174) at java.sql.DriverManager.getConnecti
Hi.I am updating a user guide that I did not create. My procedure once I have completed my updates is to go under My RoboHelp Projects in Windows Explorer, find the project name then open it's folder. I zip the !SSL! folder and post it to a common site for developers to grab the files.I am having an issue with not being able to zip the folder due to a long path name. I have completely deleted the old Folders and Topics and reentered them all, using shorter path names. When I try to zip the !SSL! folder after my changes, it still displays an error stating it cannot zip the folder due to the path name being too long.However...the path name displayed in the error message is with the previously deleted folders/topics.When I go into Windows Explorer and look at the folders which are shown, I still see old information, which I deleted within RoboHelp.Am I able to delete old items when in Windows Explorer? I thought it all had to be done within RoboHelp. I do not want to risk corrupting my use
What am I doing wrong, or what settings should be set in order to get the WebHelp index.htm to generate correctly.
Working in RoboHelp 8, I have a number of pictures of buttons within paragraphs. In this case, I have this combination in a custom-sized pop-up. I am having a hard time keeping the close or open parentheses on the same line as the picture. This is a picture of the text as written. This is a picture of the text as it is viewed (eyeglasses). This is the html:At the bottom of the Tree view are <span style="font-weight: bold;">Expand All</span> (<img src="Expand all button.jpg" alt="" style="border: none;" width="70" height="21" border="0" />) and <span style="font-weight: bold;">Collapse All</span> (<img src="Collapse All button.jpg" alt="" style="border: none;" width="75" height="21" border="0" />) buttons.I've been fiddling with the custom size to make it stay together - but am wondering if there is anything I can do when writing to make sure the parentheses stays with the picture within. Thanks so much.
I would like to publish one version but enable a way to link directing to specific content while keeping the TOC static.
RoboHelp 11, WebHelp. When I open the WebHelp project, the URL displays the start page for the Touchstone Help project: ..../Documentation/Touchstone/Content/Content.htm.As I go to different pages in the Help, the URL never changes. Our client consulting personnel often like to copy a URL to send to a client who has a question about a particular topic. Is there a WebHelp setting that supports display of the current URL?Thank you.Carol LevineAIR Worldwide
Hi,We have help topics that contain tables and each cell in the table contains a hyperlink to another topic within the project. When I need to rearrange these links, I cut and paste them. When I cut and paste one of them, everything works as I would expect.Unfortunately, if I select multiple links/cells at the same time and perform a cut and paste, the links are automatically changed. They go from being a relative path to an absolute path. For example, this: ../MainMenu/Topic.htm#bookmarkGets changed to this: C:/Projects/2015/IM/MainMenu/Topic.htm#bookmarkI'm using RoboHelp 9 with Windows 7.Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks.Ashley
A. What is the coding to call the WebHelp default topic using a window called "Main" using the .htm file name (not a Map ID), and show the TOC pane and the topic pane?B. What is the coding to call a WebHelp context sensitive topic using the .htm file name (not a Map ID) and display the topic pane only? We use the Show link inside the topic to show the TOC.RoboHelp 10 user.
We are also experiencing extremely slow performance for RoboHelp projects under version control. We are using RoboHelp 11, PushOk and a Tortoise SVN repository on a Linux server. We are using a Linux server on our IT guys advice because we found SVN version control under Windows was unstable. When placing a Robohelp project under version control, and yes the project is on my local machine, it can take up to two hours to complete. We are using the RoboHelp sample projects to test.We have tried to put the project under version control from Robohelp, and also tried first putting the project under version control from Tortoise SVN, and then trying to open the project from version control in Robohelp. In both cases, the project takes a ridiculous amount of time to open. The Robohelp status bar displays Querying Version Control Status for about an hour before it starts to download from the repository, which then takes more than an hour to complete. In many cases Robohelp becomes unresponsive
HiThe content of RH 10 Webhelp output, with a custom skin does not load on IE 10.I have installed all the patches given here:Published help topics not visible in Internet Explorer 10and also the patches given here.RoboHelp Patches and Updates | WvanWeelden.euBut it just fails. Am I missing something? Please advise.Sreekanth
HELP!!! Cannot edit screen layout.....Layout has been corrupted, and causes RH10 to shut down when I try to edit it. The published layout has changed as well, with pictures enlarged and interfering with the body text.
Has anyone had any luck getting either of the HTML5 default layouts to generate using RHCL.exe with RoboHTML 11? We try to keep the source files checked in, then generate the output at build time. To test, I generated a project based off the "Knowledge Base" template, then updated the the associated screen layouts with the screen profiles. For Responsive HTML5, that was "Theme1_Standard", and for Multiscreen HTML5, that was "Desktop_Knowledge". Both of these layouts generate fine through the RoboHTML UI, but when generated from the command line, they fail. With Responsive HTML5, RHCL does not acknowledge that the layout exists. For Multiscreen HTML5, RHCL crashes (null reference exception) when processing the project's index. (Keep in mind that I haven't modified the index from the template at this point).I'd be happy with either of these two layouts working with RHCL, as we're still fairly early in the process of creating the online help.
MorningI have some general questions, for which I doubt there are any "correct" answers, but I'm sure people will have useful to say all the same. First, some background information.I have used RoboHelp before (version 😎 to manage a handful of small, disparate projects, but I have not used the software for a couple of years (which is probably the last time I used these forums, but under a different ID).In my current role I manage around 400 hundred Word documents, from which I generate user guides as PDFs, spread across three or four software releases. There is not a lot of cross over between these guides, but there are a number of core pieces of functionality, which sometimes bleed into the other areas. I also manage some very basic online help pages, most of which are duplicates of what is in the Word docs. As it stands I have no single-sourcing and often changes in one version of a guide also need to be made to the other versions and the online help.I am looking to streamlin
Using: RoboHelp 11 on a Windows 7 system.I've looked through the Help and I've looked at the sample project EmployeeCare2 (which has only one content category, US (default), and so doesn't show the benefit of having multiple categories). I still don't understand the best approach for setting this up. For example, do you need to create a unique TOC for each content category and then include only the relevant topics in that TOC?We have several types of users for our Touchstone applicationUnderwritersReinsurance agentsInsurance agentsBusiness unit administratorsSystem administratorsWould I have to create a TOC for each type of user, including in it only those topics of interest to each user?Would I then create browse sequences applicable to each user's typical workflow?Has anyone seen any good documentation about this feature?Note: In our current Help system, which uses WebHelp Pro, I had to, for various licensing reasons, create a TOC for each type of product analysis (e.g. Loss, H
I'm asking this question because the Using RoboHelp HTML 11 guide says that the new context-sensitive Help API is supported only with RoboHelp Server or RoboEngine 3.0 or later.Since we are considering deployment of WebHelp or WebHelp Pro to a company-hosted web server (instead of to RoboHelp Server), we want to make sure that we can use the CSH API to call CSH topics.Thanks.Carol
We are using RH8. We have a project that needs updating to be current with newest software release. There is a project manager in the home office and a technical writer working remotely in another state. Our IT staff followed all the steps listed on setting up the SourceControl and this is what is occurring:I've tried it both as file system and as full embedded database solution. For files based solution I did create a history path. This is what I was working on Friday. I had to set up another test machine here with RoboHelp in order to test it. Same problem. I can check out from either machine and checkin in. However the changes never get propagated to the other instance, even if you do a Get All. Not sure if this is related, but the open project from Source Control does not work from within Robo Help 8 either. When I try to open a project that way, it just sits there on the open file dialog box. From what the tutorial showed, it should
Hi,In RH 9 I've closed and rearranged some pods / windows (not sure of the correct terminology yet). I would ideally like to get them back to their default position. Can anyone please tell me how to do this? Thanks,Gail
I'm creating a help document to be used on desktop and mobile devices in Responsive HTML-5 format and I reworked my CSS to use em variables for sizing and spacing. I have two questions:Why does this look horribly distorted in the WYSIWYG editor? It looks nothing like the basic preview window or the browser previews. Headings are massive, spacing is either non-existent or exaggerated, and it basically gives me no notion of what it will look like when published. Is there even a reason to use em in RoboHelp? I checked some of my previously-published help (meant for Desktop only, but published in Responsive HTML-5) on an iPad and a Galaxy, and it looked fine in both cases. The only issue was a table set to a specific width jutting out of the screen, but the content in it was still visible. Maybe RoboHelp handles the resizing such that using em or % has no advantage over px?Thanks for any input.
Is it possible to view SWF videos created using Camtasia in Robohelp 10?I imported the video files into my Baggage folder but the video is still not viewable, even after publishing the project. I assume this has something to do with the additional files Camtasia generates?I've seen earlier posts indicating that Camtasia created flash videos didn't work in previous versions of Robohelp. I'm hoping this isn't the case anymore. If anyone knows of a way to make it work, I'd appreciate the help.
Hi all. I'd be grateful for experts' comments on these questions:Is there a way an end-user (a reader of the WebHelp) can specify keywords in the search query (something perhaps like "kwd:installation"), such that only topics with the keyword "installation" are returned? Is there a way to search across all topics that have NO keyword (eg, "kwd:"")?Is there a way to configure RH such that when an author creates a new topic, a default keyword, or set of keywords, is added automatically to the search Keyword field for the topic? Thanks in advance-Kurt
I imported word doc into my robohelp project and there is a lot of span tag junk i want to get rid of. Is there an expression i can build in the "find and replace" tool that will find any span tag and its contents? In the following example I want to delete the whole string including the brackets: <span style="letter-spacing: .05pt;">I'm thinking possibly a wildcard like: <span ***>I don't see a wildcard option in robohelp help related to building find expressions.
I want to change the style of Table of Contents Page Title for Printed Documentation. I would like it to be left justified.I have added the style to the CSS using the CSS Editor - no luck. First, the Table of Contents Page Title style does not even appear in the CSS Editor. So, I added a style called "TOC" and then changed the existing "Table of Contents Page Title" style to "TOC" in the Style Mapping.dot file. Tried to re-generate the printed doc and it still inserts the original "Table of Contents Page Title" style and does not apply the "TOC" style to the page title.I simply want the table of contents title to be left-justified, but I cannot seem to get it to recognize this style change. Any suggestions? Ready to tear my hair out! We have about 50 guides to generate and I would rather not have to manually fix in each Word doc.
I'm receiving an error when attempting to upgrade a RoboHelp 10 project with seven content folders to RoboHelp 11. The error includes the first folder name but all the files in that folder appear in the RH 11 project (as do the files from the 7th content folder). I was contracted to train someone to maintain this and other help projects, and to get this project back in shape, but I'm stumped by the upgrade failure. RH Support suggested that I create a new project and copy files from the RH10 version. I'd rather not deal with all the broken links that would result. Does anyone have a better solution? Some background: This project was originally created with RH7 for Word and I understand it was upgraded from RH7 to RH10 with painful results. I'm pretty sure the developer did not upgrade from RH7 one version at a time. The last person assigned to maintain the project had no RH experience (the old "admin could do this" attitude, I suspect). Thanks for any help you can off
I have added a Conditional build tag to a snippet text in a certain topic. However, when I edited the snippet the Conditional build tag was removed from that topic. Luckily I noticed it was missing, but know I wonder: is there anything I can do to prevent that from happening again? Thanks in advance.
Tried using drag/drop between 2 open projects so I can split a large project into two.Either it doesn't work or I'm not doing something right (hopefully the latter!)Thanks Bill
