Using Robohelp 10. Would like to alter print layout only from the desktop layout. All looks nice in web layout, however when pages are printed, the header overflows to the second line and covers up page title and body text. Can this be edited separately as a template? If not, how can i fix it so that i still see what I want to see on the screen, but have error free printing?
Why do you have to have TOC and Index tabs together? Why can't you have one without the other?
I use RoboHelp HTML 9 and have been having issues with generated WebHelp in IE 11. The TOC was totally blank and the Search tab looked fine but did not function. Everything worked fine in Firefox. After much experimenting and online research in these forums and elsewhere, I have been able to get the TOC to display properly in IE 11 (and Firefox) but the fix has caused the Search tab to stop functioning as per this other forum post RH9 Webhelp Search function is not working properly.I need to have BOTH TOC and Search displayed and functioning properly but in order to get the TOC displayed properly I had to change the Preferred Format setting to "Pure HTML" and, according to the post mentioned above, that is what messes up the Search function. Is there a solution that will allow both TOC and Search to function properly? Here is a summary of the steps I have taken to get to this point:Tested WebHelp output from two different projects of my own as well as the Salesbuilder starter project -
I'm almost certain I know the answer to this, but need to confirm once and for all. We're on RH 9 and we're planning on generating HTML Help (and create a link in CQ5 to the chm). Is there any way possible that we could measure the number of times the chm was accessed/downloaded? Or is all this just available in RoboServer?
Hi all,Greetings for the dayI am created a new CSS in Robohelp 9. I have also created a new template in Word 2010. The style sets for different information elements like (Heading, bullets, body text, ) are more or less same between the CSS and the new templates. I am also able to map the .css styles to Word template when I am converting from RH to Word as I am getting the necessary option in the drop-down list. However, when the output is generated, the bullet, the numbered list and the body text is not converting at all. The body text works sometimes. However, the numbered list and bullet list is coming out as images. If anybody knows the solution, I can share the .css and Word template. Thanks in advance.Regards,Parag Deb
I am using Robohelp 9 on my Windows 7 64-bit machine. But when I try to import MS Word 2010 document, I get the following error message:"The Import Word Document Wizard cannot locate a supported version of Microsoft Word. Please install Microsoft Word 2000 or newer."What is the solution and why is this happening?
Can the XML Output get published to CQ5? We're trying to house our online help files on CQ5 and we'd like to use WebHelp but we're hitting some roadblocks with the HTML files. I think CQ5 supports XML and I haven't found any posts anywhere explaining how to publish this type of RH output. When I generate XML Help, the output is a bunch of code. How does this type of output work? Do I hand over files to our developer like with WebHelp or is their coding that needs to be done on our part? I haven't found much info on XML. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
I have looked through the documentation, and it seems that every "possibility" to call either a search term or a HelpID/CHSID for my documentation is to use some sort of API.Is there a way to call the search function and CHSIDs directly by only typing a URL in a browser (or link from another page, or from an email, etc etc)?I'd actually like to know for all 3 outputs I am potentially going to be using: WebHelp, WebHelp Pro (RoboHelp Server 9) and HTML5, as I'm not sure yet which form it will take at the software release. Thanks!
First off, this is a continuation from a thread that was previously started on the CHM message board: Re: Measure the number of times the chm was downloaded? that has now developed into a WebHelp issue.I've read that housing WebHelp on CQ5 is most likely not do-able, however, not impossible. I've successfully uploaded WebHelp onto CQ5 and the help opens up beautifully to the start page, HOWEVER, when clicking on every other topic, we get this on our pages:All the files and folders are present in the DAM (Digital Assets Manager in CQ5). Is it the way CQ5 reads the help the reason we're getting this error? Can anyone think of a workaround/solution to this?
Basically, I'm trying to find a way to have a feature that I had in MadCap Flare. They call it "Master Pages", but whatever you call them, I need them. The idea is that I need to have the ability to change the HTML that wraps around any topic generated by RoboHelp in the WebHelp Plus output (but, really, I'd like to do it if I ever generate HTML5, too!). Adding my own custom toolbar with links at the top, a footer, etc, etc. What I want to add is of no importance, really, but I do have this requirement. So, how is this done?
I am using RoboHelp 10 for a WebHelp output. I have read several threads about "See Also" control and "Related Topics" - to try to find my answer. But I still need answers. (By the way, I've been using RoboHelp in all its glorious versions for many years now.)I have my See Also control set up with the keywords and button on appropriate pages. The button is using a BMP of the text "See Also", so an image file for the button. And all links in the popup menu are working just fine! Here's my question - since my image file button has a white background (not the default gray background), I would like the See Also popup menu to also have a framed white background, not gray. The HTML Help (CHM) generated with these See Also controls IS showing with framed white background for list - BUT the WebHelp is NOT showing it.Is there any change I can make to the object code of the See Also control that will force the popup menu list background to be white, or even a very li
I am working with an existing project my coworker created. I want to copy the entire project to use as a starting point of a new project. I thought I did it correctly by copying the old and renaming it as a new project. But whenever I make a change to the old project, it also updates the new...and when I update the new, it also changed the old. I must have done something wrong. Can someone please help guide me?
For one of the .NET applications, we have created a context-sensitive webhelp using RoboHelp 9. When we open the application in IE 11 and click the Help button, it is opening a blank web page and then the Help opens in the new tab. Even after modifying the browser compatibility settings, the issue is not resolved. Has anyone come across this issue? Any help will be appreciated.
We got SSL certification for the RobHelp/documentation server. I’m having trouble getting RoboHelp to generate output at an https address.Per Adobe's instructions, I edited the server and changed the Server Name field to https://documentation....After generating and publishing, if I do File-->View-->Primary Layout from Server, the help opens with an http address. If I change http to https it goes off into neverland. Non-robohelp files on the same server can be accessed with either http or https addresses. Thanks in advance for any help
I have RoboHelp 9. For the past few weeks, when I generate my WebHelp outputs and choose 'View result', the locally compiled output shows a blank Contents pane when viewed in my default browser, Internet Explorer 11. However, I can successfully view locally in Chrome or Firefox, and, when published, the contents pane views fine online.I have other issues that may or may not be related. I have recently had to rebuild two separate projects, because one dropped many of the baggage files, whilst another dropped all but two of the images. I had to go back and re-import the lot in each case. When this first happened, I wondered if the project was corrupted, and I tried a technique I picked up a while ago, involving removing the xpj and cpd files from Windows Explorer, and attempting to restore from the *.FPJ file. However, I get a message saying 'This file is not an HPJ file. Please select an HPJ file to open'. The project does not have an HPJ file! So I had to rebuild the project.
I have to update an old project that uses WinHelp, so I installed RH X5 on an old XP machine. The original help file always opened in a 2-pane window with the ToC on the left and the default topic on the right. My "updated" help file only opens the ToC/Index/Search screen in a single pane. How do I get the 2-pane window to appear? This is what I'm looking for
Hi, In RH everythings looks right, my screendumps are shown as they should: But as soon I compilate the project, the CHM file turns out wrong:What's going on? Anyone else having this problem? Please help, have to get this project done quite soon...BRHelene
RoboHelp HTML 11.0.1.235I recently converted from RoboHelp 8 to 11, seemingly without a problem. However, I no longer seem to see pop-ups in pop-up format in View Selected Item (eyeglass icon). Instead of a pop-up, I see the topic in full frame. In RoboHelp 8 I could always see the pop-up as an autosizing or custom-sized pop-up (as identified on the image map). The picture below shows how I fill in the image map. Does RoboHelp 11 no longer allow you to see pop-ups in View Selected Item, or am I doing something wrong? I've done a lot of playing with this today and can't seem to get it right. The compiled topic looks fine - the pop-ups show as pop-ups. I just can't preview it.Thanks so much for any help.
Windows Server 2008 SP2 32bitRoboHelp Server 9RoboHelp HTML 11Tomcat 7Problem: After following the installation instructions here, and trying to log back into the admin panel the following error is displayed. The weird part is that I can get to the report section via a direct link, however it is not possible to change which areas are selected.I am able to publish to the server still and the changes update as expected.I have tried creating a new context and attempting to log into the admin panel resulting in the same error message.I also tried upgrading Tomcat to version 8 and was faced with the same error message upon logging in via the admin panel.Any thoughts on this will be appreciated!
I would really like to know if it's possible to create widgets of my own for Robohelp (I'm on version 10, but should update to 12 soon). I haven't been able to find any specific information on this, the only references I can find to widgets in the RoboHelp installation folder are XML files that don't have any "code" that would explain their functionality (so I'm guessing, what, DLL files actually do the work?), the documentation only talks about creating screen layouts... But at least *someone* has figured out how to create them: http://www.wvanweelden.eu/product/favorites-widget-webhelpThere's probably other ways to do what I want to do (in my case, and just right this moment, I'd like to show the title and contents of a topic in two different locations, I can't figure out any way to do this as the screen layout variables only have the project title... ugh), but if making widgets doesn't require me to install an IDE and compile stuff, I'd like to see some documentation on how to do it
My client is looking to change the way they generate help for an internal application. Until now, they've been using RoboHelp for Word X3. I was able to import the existing project into RoboHelp 10 and generate "Primary Layout (WebHelp)." I opened the generated help in IE and FireFox and found the Table of Contents, which generated well. Most but not all of the individual help pages will not open, however. Those that will not open are in CHM format. FireFox is reporting errors like "Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because the protocol (rmation.chm) isn't associated with any program." Can anyone advise me on how to proceed?
My (FrameMaker 12) Paragraph, Character, etc., styles are not available under RoboHelp 11's FrameMaker Settings on the Project Settings > Conversion Settings form. However, when I create a new project and select Import > "Edit conversion settings for FrameMaker documents," the styles do appear on the Conversion Settings form. Why are the styles not brought into the new RoboHelp 11 project? Is there a way in RoboHelp to bring them in post the New > Project process?
I am considering moving from AuthorIt to RoboHelp 11 (actually the Tech Suite as I use Captivate). I am trying it out now, but my word docs are importing and instead of forming topics, I am getting bookmarks. I've tried reading through the help and following instructions, but nothing seems to work. Can anyone give me some clues on how to solve this? I understand that I have to configure the word file, but can't figure out what needs to be done. Would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks in advance.
I installed Robohelp 11 and it deleted my Acrobat 9 Pro during the installation. Can I get my Acrobat 9 Pro back or is this some way of forcing me to upgrade that too?
I am building a database for work, and would like to add a file to be able to be downloaded off the finished HTML site. Is this possible? I basically want to insert a link saying : Download this list here. Thanks!
