Audio objects (or vid) built inside WORD 2007 then go online to create PDF & downloaded to desktop

I used the FREE online ADOBE  to convert  a WORD document to pdf and then downloaded it.

 

I DO NOT WANT TO USE WORD TO CREATE THE PDF - - DO NOT IGNORE THAT STIPULATION

 

Then I opened the pdf with a free Acrobat Reader (which friends probably use, free ) and the icon for my audio file (or video) did not do anything.

 

Why?

 

If I bought a desktop ADOBE, is there a difference in functionality?  Is the online ADOBE not good for this?

 

How do I create in Word and then convert to pdf using ACROBAT, and have the objects functional by any one I send them to, whether they open that pdf on their desktop with free ACROBAT or if they open it online or through a paid account?

    Buy and install Adobe Acrobat. In Adobe Acrobat add the audio or video files.

    Assume I created a WORD document that includes 50 icon objects, when you click them a video or audio file pops open

     

    Assume I buy standard Adobe Acrobat

     

    Assume I open the WORD doc inside ACROBAT

     

    Assume I create a pdf of the document.

     

    What EXACT STEPS do I take to make sure anybody I give the pdf to can click the objects and see the 

    video or listen to the audio, whether they have a free reader, use online adobe, use some non adobe reader, they don't understand adobe like I don't understand adobe, and they just open the pdf, like a92 year old dinosaur would?

     

    someone said ADD the audio files - - -- that means nothing to me.  be specific

     

    Example, is there a menu inside ACROBAT that has me check off the mp3 mp4 video audio files that get packaged inside the pdf? Or do I have to click on all 50 objects again, and somehow link the objects to their audio and video files all over again?

     

     After your answer, can you direct me to a video (maybe YouTube) that shows how I would add the audio file inside Adobe Acrobat

      There's no way to do it so that it works in all PDF viewers out there, since many of them don't support the full PDF specs, unfortunately. Your best bet is to set the links to open a web-page where you've placed those clips (for example, on YouTube). That should work in most viewers.

      1) Could I inform the recipient what version or package of Adobe is needed, like version x.x or higher?

      I am totally unfamiliar with ADOBE other than what Joe Public downloads for free.

      2) Is there a different kind of software to use for publishing like WORD with embeddable audio files, but is READ-ONLY? 

      3) Can WORD be distributed as READ-ONLY as a download independent from wifi / internet.

      4) Does Kindle allow embedded audio? NOOK? etc?

      5) I read someone elses post that said his users find icons play one time and fail the next time they open the pdf.

      Sounds to me like ADOBE is an unreliable product and a waste of time.  What alternatives have you seen 

      for distributing a work, and one with audio icons

      1) Any current Acrobat Reader should work. You can inform the recipient of the versions you used to test the PDF file.

      2) There is no such thing than read only files. Even a PDF file can be modified nowadays, even that it was thought at the beginning to be a read-only electronic paper format. You can use other publishing formats, like EPUB. You can create your document in a DTP program, like InDesign, and export directly as a PDF or EPUB document. You need to know that any solution you choose, there will be a learning curve. You won't get a push button solution.

      3) What do you mean by distributing WORD? Anyhow, you should ask that question in a Microsoft forum.

      4) You should ask that in a Kindle forum.

      5) You will read a lot of stuff. But Adobe is not a product, but a company. Besides this, if there is an error, the error may be caused by multiple instances. Acrobat is a very reliable product used by millions of users. But it may not be the product to use for your application.

      This is an Acrobat forum sponsored by Adobe. If you would like to learn what other products are on the market, you need to look elsewhere. I doubt that Adobe is willing to sponsor market research for competitor's products.

      If I upload a WORD document to Free Adobe online, I only find an option to 

      1) use a plug in - - which leaves me vulnerable to viruses

      2) the plug in will only let me VIEW, HGIHLIGHT, and COMMENT

      3) I find no option for EDIT and CREATE OBJECTS

      So you see, your answer is entirely useless to a novice. It is painfully apparent to the thickest of dolts that I do not know what I am doing.  Your answer serves to block me off from advisors who might actually have something useful to contribute. Your answer is at best [moderator removed expletive]. Now I will have to break rules and repost because of your inconsiderate response. I recommend mine is the last post you try to respond to
