Remove Background for Video is Greyed Out

I have a 1.2 second clip that I am trying to remove the background of and when I upload it on the web app on my laptop (Mac OS 10.15.7, Firefox 123.0 [64-bit]) the Remove Background feature is greyed out. I have tried re-uploading it to no avail. I have tried waiting a few minutes to see if it just needed more time to process to no avail. I closed the project, exited the app, and re-opened the project, but a loading circle appears in the upper right hand project window and remains circling indefinitely. I tried signing in and re-uploading the video on a different browser (Chrome 121.0.6167.139 (Official Build) (x86_64)) and the exact same thing happened. I pay for this service so it is not blocked b a paywall. Please advise.

Hi,

 

We've deployed a fix for this issue. Could you please try now? Be sure to reload your browser tab if you already have Express open (for mobile, restart the app).

 

Also note that it is expected that the Remove background button will be temporarily disabled while the video is uploading/processing. The fix addresses the case where the button would remain disabled indefinitely.

I am now having the same problem described. Video (12 seconds, 2000px approx) uploads and processes. Remove background icon becomes available. Once clicked it processes endlessly and doesnt produce a removed background. 

This is happening on the website and ios mobile app.

I just joined Adobe Express Premium just to remove background from video. I selected the video to upload and it appeared in the work area but remove background is greyed out. This is a 30 minute video 4gb. Will I be able to do this or did I misunderstand what this can do?

Just got the message 2 minute time limit. That's a shame. I could understand it for a free plan but not one that with a monthly fee. That was really the only thing I was looking for.

It would be for live music videos where the background is not good so if someone knows of another site or software to do this at a reasonable price I'[d appreciate knowing.

ADOBE don't advertise a product not able to function as advertised,  until you have all the bugs worked out.  The time wasted can be unbearable.  Now here I find a current thread with people having the same issue, and not one solution suggested by developers.  Add all the time up from everybody, and at least give our membership some free subscription months at least a year.

Welcome to the community! We're sorry to hear about this. Please let us know if this is happening with all MP4 videos or with some specific ones. Did you try using other browsers to check if that helps? 

 

Also, would you mind sharing the screen recording of the issue you're seeing along with the video you're trying to upload to investigate the issue?

Please help! I am going crazy with this Adobe Express issue, I have been in touch with support multiple times and no avail.

 

I am trying to remove the background of a video, the background it not complex (I actually used a green screen). When I first used Adobe express, this worked like a charm. Now it has all sorts of faults - it is just me talking to the camera but my body gets sliced in two, or only my head is visible with a blank background. I have tried incognito mode (worked once then reverted to the same issue) and even re-recorded the video. It keeps on with the same weirdly sliced up video of my (sometimes it removes everthing and is just blank and you can just hear my voice). 

 

I really need this feature to create my videos and I dont seem to be able to fix it. I am open to any and all suggestions. Thanks

Hey @Francis_Kynaston-Pear4825, I tried reproducing the remove video background feature on the Google Chrome browser on a Windows 11 machine, and it works fine for me. Can you share the device and browser details you're working on? Can you try working on a different recommended browser (Edge, Safari, Firefox, or Chrome) or work after clearing the cache/cookies of the browser you're currently working on to see if that makes any difference? 

If the issue still persists, please share a screen recording of the issue.

Same issue for me. Was working an hour ago and now it doesn't. 

But then agin, I shouldn't be suprised. Adobe is a small time player and doesn't make much money from subscribers.

Sorry to hear you are running into this issue. When you say "It was working an hour ago and now it doesn't. " is this behavior for the same video that was already uploaded, or a new one that you uploaded afresh?
