Interpretation of video files in After Effects 25

Greetings everyone,

I have updated to After Effects 25.0 yesterday and found a serious/maior bug when comparing to After Effects 24. I'm working with large clips of resolutions up to 20480 x 144px. When I import a clip into AE 25, the clip suddenly has black solids at the left and right end. This isn't originally in the clips/artwork and this never happened before, neither in AE 24 nor in any previous versions.

I have attached screenshots from a simple clip of 17664 x 144px that is only imported into After Effects, so I'm not talking about misinterpretation of existing project files or any of that. Simply drag & drop the clip in After Effects. As shown in the screenshots, After Effects 24 does it right while After Effects 25 adds black solids at the left/right ends.

Thanks for reporting this and sharing the files. Looks like a bug. You can use the 24.x while the team is working on a fix.

Thanks for writing in. What's the format of the media you're using? Do you mind sharing a sample media with us to test? If you don’t want to share it publicly, feel free to DM me the download link.

Looking forward to your response.

Thanks,
Nishu

The fileformat I'm working with is ProRes422 (LT) and animation encoded MOVs. I randomly imported several contents of different resolutions 20480 x 144px, 18800 x 144px, 16800 x 144px. They all have the same issue exclusively in AE 25.

I'll share a file in private.

Much appreciated, thank you.

Did a quick check with content I work with and can confirm the correct size is now fully displayed.
