Welcome back to our series on free After Effects resources from across the web. If you missed the first one, we covered Camera Crew by Motion Ape well worth a look. This time, we're highlighting a tool that, honestly, needs no introduction for a lot of you. But if you haven't tried it yet, you're in for a treat. Meet DUIK ÁngelaDUIK Ángela is the 17th major version of DUIK, the comprehensive rigging and animation toolkit built by Nicolas Dufresne and the team at RxLaboratory. It's been actively developed for over 15 years, and at this point it's the go-to rigging script for character animators working in After Effects, used in commercials, music videos, indie films, and animated series all over the world. And it's completely free and open source. What you can do with itDUIK brings the kind of rigging tools you'd expect from a 3D application - IK, controllers, bones, constraints, and adapts them for 2D animation in AE. Once you've got a character rigged, you can pose and animate them li
Every time I want to see the Script List under the Window Menu I run into the anoying issue to scroll down to them. The length of that Menu can be very long depending on the comps that are open. And scrolling is slow and only works by clicking on the down arrow. That menu doesn't move when I scroll my mouse wheel (Windows). Apparently on mac it does.I suggest having a side menu like the Extensions menu. (see screenshot). As I discussed this with the community a few useful tips came out of it:(Kyle Harter) With the new Quick Apply one can launch every script .Or Kbar can do that too. (Rob Barrett) One can also start typing the name of the script with the Windows menu open, and the selection will jump to that item. Typing “T” several times will cycle through all entries beginning with “T”.These tips help! However if you don’t remember the name of the script and want to see the list, the old problem stays.A Script Sidemenu would be an easy fix.Thank you for considering this!
I try to export a graphical template with essential graphics. New Project, I add just a color layer and add the scaling as a editable option. When I hit export as template this appears:
We use OCIO color management in AE 26.3, but we have run into a limitation where the existing API setters for the Project Working Color Space still seem to rely on the legacy ICC workflow.Currently, we can successfully query the active OCIO space, but we are unable to set it programmatically: JSX: app.project.workingSpace currently only accepts legacy ICC profile description strings. When the project's Color Engine is set to "OCIO Color Managed", trying to pass an OCIO color space to this property fails. C++ SDK: AEGP_UtilitySuite6 provides AEGP_GetOCIOWorkingColorSpace to read the active space as a string, but the available setter AEGP_SetWorkingColorSpace strictly expects an AEGP_ConstColorProfileP (ICC profile pointer). There doesn't seem to be a symmetrical way to pass an OCIO string back into the system. Our Request: Could you please consider updating both the JSX and C++ APIs to support OCIO setters?Thank you for your time and help!
Hello, I want to download Adobe After Effects 2019 or 2020 because my laptop can't handle the newer versions. I know that the 2019 and 2020 versions are no longer officially available, but is there still a way to download them?I stopped editing in 2021, and now I want to start editing again using the same laptop I had back then. My laptop has an Intel 11th Gen Core processor, but unfortunately it only has 8 GB of RAM. I can still run the newer versions of After Effects, but they're too demanding for my laptop, and they often crash or become unresponsive ("Not Responding").I wanted to upgrade the RAM, but I can't because it's soldered to the motherboard. And I'm too poor to buy a new laptop right now, lol.
Why AE is still in 2026 absolutely garbage and unoptimized? Why at more than 70$ moth is still full of bugs? Why rendering is still underusing the machine? Why adobe? Why dont you destroy the program and rebuilt from zero? Years, more than 12 years working daily with it and every day I have to FIGHT with the software, every day. Every day I discover a new tricky way to solve a NEW problem.
The latest version of After Effects is here—bringing powerful new features designed to speed up everyday workflows and reduce manual effort. From AI-powered rotoscoping with Object Matte, to faster lookups with Quick Apply, smarter multi-layer adjustments using Proportional Scrubbing, and enhanced realism with Substance 3D material displacement, this release focuses on helping you get more done—with fewer steps. The MIR effect doesn’t work for me. Every time I apply it, the whole comp goes dark and I get this error: “After Effects error: MIR: OpenGL error: Could not allocate texFBO (glFlush()) (512) (25::241)”. This only happens with MIR. Other Trapcode effects like Particular and Tao work fine.I’ve already tried reinstalling different AMD driver versions (clean installs), reinstalling Windows, installing OpenGL compatibility packs, and using older versions of the plugin and After Effects. Nothing helped.I use a single monitor, my GPU is an RX 580 8GB, and my CPU doesn’t have integrated graphics. Other effects that use OpenGL work normally. Tech support told me there have been issues with AMD drivers, but if that was the case, old versions should have worked — and they don’t.I don’t know what else to try. Has anyone run into this and found a solution?
Hello, Im trying to open in after effects 24.6.2 a file from 24,0 but I´m getting the following error message. Is there any chance that I can open? I have the same problem with all files. Thanks!
I noticed that the premade output preset “High Quality, which uses ProRes 422 is set to 16.7 millions colors which is 8-Bit per Channel. Why? ProRes 422 is 10 Bit codec, so the setting should be set to billions colors.Of course I can change it myself, but in my eyes the preset should be corrected, many people render their movies in bad color quality.
Hey guys!I saw a really cool text transition in a Minecraft video (0:20)And I'm trying to recreate it. The creator mentioned they only used Premiere Pro and After Effects for their editing workflow. The effect is a fast camera fly zoom to the sky where a 3D text (like "INTRODUCING") appears in the middle of the screen, perfectly locked in place with zero jitter.I tried using the 3D Camera Tracker in After Effects, and also tried 2D tracking (Position + Scale), but because of the repeating Minecraft textures and the fast camera rush, the text constantly jitters, shakes, or the tracker points just slide off the blocks. How is this transition actually made? What is the proper, clean workflow in Premiere or AE to get that rock-solid, smooth look without any shaking? Thanks in advance!
The viewport needs to be set to FULL res in order to track a mask.Set viewport to Half res Import a video Draw a mask to track. Track forwardThe video will play but the mask will not track. It needs to be set at full resolution to track. After Effects v26.30Windows 11
I'm experiencing what appears to be a VRAM memory leak in Adobe After Effects. When working on a project, GPU VRAM usage gradually increases over time, especially when repeatedly adjusting effect properties or previewing the composition. The VRAM is not properly released, eventually reaching the full 16 GB capacity and causing After Effects to crash due to running out of GPU memory. What's strange is that even after closing the project, the VRAM usage remains high instead of being released. The only reliable way to free the VRAM is to completely close After Effects. Here's what I've already tried:- Purging all caches- Switching the renderer to Mercury Software Only- Reinstalling the GPU driverThe issue still occurs. I have also observed similar VRAM behavior in Premiere Pro.My system:- GPU: AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT (16 GB VRAM)- CPU: Intel Core i5-14400F- RAM: 48 GB- Windows 11 25H2- After Effects version: 26.3Has anyone experienced a similar issue? Is this a known problem with After Effects,
I can no longer copy text from illustrator and paste it into after effects. It used to copy and paste, including formatting. But now nothing at all happens!
Just seems like an easy win when people keep asking for it. It's just basic functionality really.
I'm trying to find an effect that is equal to Flip Horizontal.I want the objec to flip from one side of the screen to the other. What Effect can I use for this?
After effects recently did an auto update and now I see the New viewer option is gone??This is a crucial funtion I need to see how my precomps update in the main comp. Is this a mistake? Has it moved somewhere else?? After Effects 25.2.2
When I hit play, it starts playing after 2 seconds or so when I use the Studio Display XDR speakers. If I change the speakers to MacBook Pro speakers or my audio interface, the latency goes away.
Dear Adobe Team,I'm writing to report an ongoing issue that's frustrating many motion designers, including myself.I originally reported a similar problem back in 2023 (), and unfortunately, it was never fully resolved. I managed to work around it by juggling older versions, installing and uninstalling as needed, but it's unbelievable that we face these kinds of problems with such an expensive Creative Cloud subscription. The situation has become much worse with the latest 2025 and 2026 updates.I regularly work on large projects with 500+ assets (PNG, JPG, SWF, audio, video files, etc.). I collect files properly, start working, and everything seems fine at first. But the next day, or after a few days, when I reopen the project, many MP4 and SWF files appear as "missing," show compatibility errors, or fail to display correctly. This isn't a one-time or occasional glitch; it's now my standard workflow. I've wasted countless hours reinstalling software, restarting, and even re-rendering fi
