360/VR video not outputting correctly

I've been trying to sort this out for days, but I'm not sure why my stereoscopic VR files are creating really wacky OUTPUT compositions.
I've tried out every tutorial on YT, and have been using this method of precoming the LEFT and RIGHT portions of the video separately, then creating 3D edits with the VR Comp Editor.

Once I do that, I can orbit around and edit my footage with no issue.
Note that the VR Comp Editor does not change though. I'm not given any new options to switch between the Edit and Output on the window itself. This is different from all tutorials I've seen.

Finally, when I go to Output for a render, I get a comp that looks like this every time.
I've tried many different methods, without precomping and whatnot. It ends up looking like this every single time.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
