Start here: Overview

Look at the beginner tutorials, then start looking at the experienced user tutorials. When you have mastered the basics you can start planning something like a Hollywood movie intro. There is no one button plug-in solution to your problem. I could easily fill a full semester graduate class with the techniques required to create a feature film worthy 3D title sequence.

Any After Effects projects are not specific to any operating system. Mac projects work on Windows, Windows projects work on a Mac.
