Add to Adobe Media Encoder Queue pull down menu produces different renders than Queue in AME button

AE v17, ME v14, Mac OS 10.13.6

If I send an AE comp to Media Encoder by choosing Add to Adobe Media Encoder Queue from the Composition pull down menu, the comp will render in Media Encoder as expected.

If I send an AE comp to Media Encoder by adding the comp to the AE render queue, then clicking the Queue in AME button, the comp will render in Media Encoder color-shifted. Particularly, the colors will appear less saturated.

I'm guessing that this has something to do with an xml file that's generated by AE and read by ME when the Add to... option is chosen? And that this xml file contains vital color space information for Media Encoder?

Thanks for any insight or advice.

Make sure you are rendering with the same settings in both cases (codec, container).

yeah, clearly

please read my question again

this isn't about a codec/container mismatch, it's about the originating action by which i send a render to Media Encoder
