Adobe latest official System Requirements inaccurate?

Explorer ,
Mar 22, 2021 Mar 22, 2021

Hello,

The latest AE system requirements released by Adobe state "macOS versions 10.13 and later" (https://helpx.adobe.com/in/after-effects/user-guide.html/in/after-effects/system-requirements.ug.htm...).

Stuck on 10.13.6 (because of an Nvidia card, and Nvidia having stopped releasing mac drivers beyond 10.13.6), I cannot update to AE 17.7 nor 18.0, stopped by a error message stating that I need "10.14 or beyond".

Are the new official sytem requirements posted this month inaccurate, or is there still a way to run AE 18.0 (or 17.7) on Mac OS 10.13.6 ?

Thank you for your reply.

My drivers are up to date (actually, even more recent than the ones specified on the page you linked to).

Either the latest System requirements posted by Adobe are inaccurate, or I'm missing something...

Adobe expects all users to have the latest software, no more than 2 versions back.

NOTE:

Upcoming changes to operating system support

Effective in January 2021, new releases of the Creative Cloud video and audio applications will require macOS 10.14 (or later) or Windows 10 v1903 (or later).

Hope that clarifies matters for you.

I'm running AE 17.6, so that was "the latest software" until this month.

The latest official system requirement for AE 18.0 is "macOS versions 10.13 and later" (https://helpx.adobe.com/in/after-effects/user-guide.html/in/after-effects/system-requirements.ug.htm...), so if inaccurate, Adobe should correct it.

Are you NOT seeing what I'm seeing?  See screenshot below.

It says you need macOS 10.14 (or later) now. I have no reason to believe that's inaccurate.

It says AE 18.0 needs 10.13 (or later).

@Moon68,

I'm sorry you don't understand.  Maybe we may have a language barrier.

BEFORE January 2021, you could use macOS 10.13 to run the November 2020 and October 2020 release versions.  AFTER January 2021, that changed due to the release of Big Sur.  If you don't believe me, contact Adobe Technical Support by online chat.  Maybe they can explain it better.

Bottom line, you need at least Mac 10.14 to run the latest version of AE.  If your system is too old to support an OS update, revert back to the November or October release of AE.
