Adobe storage questions

I'm looking into some advice on storing adobe applications. I use AE, Premier, CH and Photoshop a lot. I have them all on my SSD (Toshiba 256GB) the my OS is running off of but that drive is almost full leading to performance issues. If I look at my storage (pictured below) almost all that space is dedicated to adobe programs.

I also use:

  • An HDD with project files (1 TB Toshiba)
  • And a spare SSD just for cache on these projects (1 TB Samsung 860 Evo)

Questions:

  • I think my setup should work well, although I clearly need more storage on my OS SSD. Is there a way to decrease the size of all these adobe apps?
  • Will I take a performance hit if I move these adobe programs to my spare SSD (which ONLY reserved for caches now)?
  • Is it worth buying another SSD to just run my adobe programs?

I'm on windows 10

Get a larger SSD for the OS.  You are going to need more room for Windows Updates as they are issued. You might as well prepare for that now.

I'm on a 256GB SSD, too. It was kind of a mistake, though, but I manage to deal with it...

You can optimize several things:

- check ALL adobe software for caches and place them all to the dedicated cache drive

- clear the temp, but skip all files which can't be deleted

- clear Recycle bin

- remove unused software

- deactivate windows hibernation

- lower or deactivate Windows system restore cache

- get a larger SSD

You have to be very careful about installing Creative Cloud in anything but the default location. Many scripts and 3rd party plug-in installers will not know where to look for the right folders. If you choose a second internal drive make sure you take and keep notes and make sure you know where all of the scripts and plug-in folders are.

If you decide to use an external drive realize that the transfer speed depends on the connection and it's going to be a lot slower than any internal drives unless you have a monster system with some current and extremely efficient external ports. USBC is really slow compared to any of the latest, and USB is useless for anything but sending data to a printer or reading a CD.

Rick I did get a 860 EVO SSD I was going to install in my PC just need to pick up a SATA cable. Its 1TB so its way bigger then the drive my OS is on which came with the PC. Should I transfer my OS to this new SSD or should I house my Adobe apps on the SSD?
