Been getting this all day. HD comps with not a lot in them other than a few mulit-channel EXR layers stacked on top of each other. 128GB Ram system with 90% of that given to After Effects. AE seems unable to release some of the ram it is using to allocate it to new frames.
At first I though it might be on about GPU memory so I switched to software rendering but it still does. Is EXR decoding done on the GPU?

Honestly, that could come from anywhere and must not at all have anything to do with the EXRs. At any rate, this isn't a GPU error. The numbers would be completely different. Anything else will require exact info about your project like the dimensions and encoding of the EXRs, where and how they are used, screenshots of the timeline and so on. My suspicion is that this may be a data conversion issue when using blending modes due to odd ranges in the channels or EXRs with different view boxes causing some weird buffer issue, but who's to say? More details are definitely required.
