Never ran into this before, started with the most recent update.
Whenever I try to collect files, it inevitably gets to:
After Effects warning: The file...... could not be found.
Then it ends collecting, so whatever is beyond that file is never copied. Incredibly frustrating. I thought at first it may be file names, long paths, etc. but right now I'm looking at a problem with a file named IMAC.png that resides in /(Footage)/Source/images/ - so that can't be it.
I have a RAID setup that I work from, so I also tried collecting to the desktop. Same thing.
Any thoughts appreciated.
Thanks!

...and WTF Adobe? You can't actually fix this problem, or AT THE VERY LEAST mark this thread as "Solved" with the mouse solution? If I hadn't read to the point I did, I would have still been banging my head against my desk.

Adobe aren't usually the ones who mark threads as solved or not. We users do. More specifically, the original poster of the thread has the option to mark something correct or not since it is "their" thread and "their" issue. Moderators also have the power to mark threads correct, but perhaps it wasn't marked correct because, while that's a decent workaround, it isn't a real "solve" to the problem. I dunno, I think it's good enough though - and certainly useful!
That being said, the latest version of AE does seem to have fixed the problem for many people. Are you running 13.7.2 and still experiencing the issue or are you running 13.6.x or 13.5.x?

HI Guys, I stumbled on this problem just a few hours ago and what worked for me is to SAVE the collected files in the same location/hard drive as the files that AE can't locate. Well, it worked for me anyways. Still a PIA and adobe should fix this issue.

One of the artist in our department has been having issues with this problem although I cannot re-create it on my machine, however, I am wondering, as we have had other server permissions issues since installing Maverick OS using SMB shares if it may have something to do with an application "safe save"? I would be interested to find out when someone is collected a file, while working on the server, what exactly happens to the permissions of all the associated files when it's packaged. Any feedback would be appreciated!
Thanks! : )

Looks as if part of the issue was solved by updating Adobe CC keychain access on the mac and deleting some plist stuff. If other folks are still having issues, I would start there. ; )

Don't touch the mouse worked for me to! After struggling for hours trying to figure it out. Adobe, get it together! This feature has worked perfectly for over decade!

Came across this thread while trying to figure out my problem with AE not collecting. (After Effects CC)
The 'don't move the mouse' trick worked. I hope this bug is fixed.

I was having this same issue. Not touching the mouse while it collected the project files (4.5 GB including 1000s of PNGs rendered out of C4D) worked.

Must say though I don't use Collect files that much. First I don't like the way Adobe organizes the files. Ive just gotten in the habit of moving the files I need to the project folder before importing. It takes a little longer at the beginning but man, it saves time in the long run.

They have moved Collect Files to under the item File > Dependencies. I got scared myself at first.

Hi,
I was having the same problem and this seems to be fixed by saving the aep file in the directory where you are collecting the files. It might work for you as it worked for me but i really hope Adobe provides a permanent solution for this problem.
