After Effect Crashing at "Initialising required components"

Community Beginner ,

A day, I just was starting my pc and starting After Effects when it decided not to work anymore. (it was working perfectly fine before)

My pc and After effects did not have any updates, and my graphic card's driver is updated.

I click on after effect, the purple starting square pops up, stays stuck at the very begining of loading "Initialising required components", stops answering and crashes.

I have tried to uninstall/re-install, to install an older version, to delete all Ae's folders that were staying when it was uninstalled, nothing works. The same problem, no matter what version.
It only is willing to start and open up when I run it as administrator, but then it wont let me import media to my projects and seem to be having problems to run properly.

I have tried to look up ways to fix it on internet but did not find anything, and I do not know what to do no more, its embarassing because I need AE 😔

What I have: Windows 10, Nvidia GeForce GT555M, AE 16.1

Thank you !

Without any info from the actual crash log nobody really can tell you much. However, given the plethora of issues you describe I'm willing to conclude that your harddrive is dying or at least full to the brim. Win 10 goes haywire when it thinks it has no storage space left to run its auto-repair and update functions and then only goes from bad to worse, messing up user permissions, protected folder and even drivers. So by all means, start checking your system integrity before even dreaming of repairing AE. You can find enough info on all the nerd stuff like fcheck, DISM, Windows' own disk cleanup and so in a web search.

Hello, thank you very much for your answer !

I tried to get access to the logs but :

C:\Users\(my name)\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\After Effects\16.1\logs

contained nothing, nothing at all. 😞

I have a lot of memory place left still, but my computer seem to be unusually slow...
I got my dad to look into it a bit with me, and he made me do the following things :

-Uninstall AE
-reboot computer (not turn off and turn on, but reboot)

-re-install Ae but install it in a different folder than it default-ly installs itself to

-i started it and it worked

Sadly he is gone to sleep right now so I can't get him to explain what was it for, but apparently its about libraries loading that can be a problem...
I will ask him more details when he will be avaliable, and I'm still very surpised at how sudden it was XD
Thank you very much for your help tho !!

From what I am reading It seems you have issues with your OS

My advice: Do a fresh Install of your windows OS, ensure you have enough hard drive space left over for your apps once thats done

This should resolve your issue
