After Effects can't deal with XD export images

Welcome,

I have recently encountered an issue with exporting from XD directly to After Effects. At school, we receive premade XD files which we have to Export into After Effects to then use for the course Motion Design.

When these link to an image ( png, jpg....not SVG yet) my After Effects gives me a pop up with the following:

error.PNGexpand image

The teacher said she had seen this before but usually it's as it is with me just 1 student in a class of around 20-30 students. Student (USERNAME STUDENT: benv44517387  ) in same course but last year  https://community.adobe.com/t5/adobe-xd/unable-to-export-from-xd-to-after-effects/m-p/10314602#M1137...

I have tried the following:

  • Download 3 times the same file once in Jpg once in PNG and once in SVG put it on an artboard and export it to After effects, PNG and JPG said they were missing and didn't show SVG exported normally and showed on the screen
  • Turn off all Anti virus programs / firewalls
  • Reinstalling XD
  • Reinstalling AE
  • reinstalling older versions of both programmes
  • Try with different folder paths
  • Tried previous files
  • Restarting my pc

VERSION XD: 27.0.12

VERSION AE:17.0.2

laptop: LENOVO LEGION Y720-15IKB

Thank you in advance

Have you actually checked the naming of layers and states in XD as well as the publishing options? The names mentioned in teh warning seem to indicate total reliance on the auto-naming of the preview/ temp files, which of course might be problematic.

Hey thanks for the reply!

"as well as the publishing options?" what exactly do you mean with this?

I have checked all naming is correct to sketch the situation a bit more i can't even make a fresh XD project put only 1 single png on it name the png and export it, gives me the same error i'm not sure if there's a directory not being made that should be made,

We've also exported the exact XD file to after effects successfully on other pc's just seems like mine is acting a bit up at this point
