Hello,
so I have a problem with After Effects 2024 (ver 24.0). For some reason every single file on my computer (video footage, images/assets, audio files) aren't recognised by After effects. They just come up as offline. Whenever I try replacing or reloading the footage/asset, I am met with the same error (see attachment for example). This issue is fixed when I rename a new copy of the file that has also been moved to a different directory. The problem is that I have to now rename/move every single asset I need to use, every single time in order for it to be recognised by adobe. I need to fix this as doing that, is virtually impossible and inconvenient. I have tried consulting with a support agent, however mid conversation, they ended and left me high and dry, with no solution. This is an issue in of itself. I'm paying so much money a year, I at the very least expect some form of service. Very upset with Adobe. Does anyone have this issue, or have any fixes for this? I am getting very upset and tired of this. I can't do my job efficiently. Please, someone help.

Is the volume where the files you would like to access are stored locked?
Even if it's not locked, if you're running macOS you may have been promted to provide access. Did you accept those message?

Any chance you also updated to MacOS 14? There seems to be something up with the new OS that is changing permissions to folders. Get Info on the folder that this is happening on and make sure your account still has access to the folder.

Can you install the latest version of After Effects and see if the issue persists?
Let us know. I am moving this thread from Bugs to Discussions for now.
Thanks,
Nishu

Hi Nishu,
Thanks for responding. I have installed the latest version of After effects (ver 24.4) and unfortunately the issue still persists. Same error saying the file could not be found. I tried dragging and dropping, importing through the application but nothing seems to change. I also made sure that After effects had full permission over my entire disk.

**Also something that I think is worth noting, I had fully uninstalled and reinstalled creative cloud, and After effects and Premiere pro

Are you importing the files from a folder that's synced with the cloud, such as Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.? If so, please make sure that files are available offline.
Let us know if it helps.
Thanks,
Nishu

As far as I am aware, any files that I have used are not synced with the cloud, or have been fully downloaded onto my Macbook and are available offline.
Thanks,
Sam
