Hey, have a student project due Friday.

I am trying to import .psd files into After Effects but it keeps importing the wrong file. I need to retain the layers as I will be moving some of them. I can import without Photoshop sequence but then all the layers are in the centre of the screen and it's a lot of work to move them manually. The second photo is the one that keeps popping up instead of the actual photo I want (when I use import with Photoshop sequence). I've moved it to a different folder from the rest of my assets and it keeps happening...

Sorry, I should probably add that I'm using a GTX 1080 and 16 GB of RAM.

Your first screenshot looks like you imported a Photoshop file as a composition retaining layer size and then selected all of the layers from the folder that was created and dragged them into a new comp called Comp 1. The layers in Comp 1 are all named karateman but they are in Comp 1. You should have opened the karateman comp that After Effects created. All of the layers will be in the right place. This tutorial shows you how to sequence a layered file. I'm using Illustrator to create a morph between two shapes, but the process is the same as creating an animation using Photoshop Layers. Import as a comp, trim the layers, sequence the layers to create an animation from the layers.

When you import images as a sequence Ater Effects looks for file names and arranges them alphabetically and numerically in a movie. If you right-click on layer 1 in the timeline and select Reveal/Reveal in Folder or Finder you will find multiple files with the same name. You can also see what files have been included in the image sequence by stepping through the timeline one frame at a time using Ctrl/Cmnd + Right Arrow to move through the composition one frame at a time.
