After Effects luma matte exports

Hi all,

 

Currently facing some issues regarding exports/luma mattes that I'm hoping for some guidance on. I've attached screenshots below.

 

I'm working on a scene consisting of dozens of rotobrushed layers, keyed layers, etc. and it's been very taxing onmy system (Windows 10, AMD 1950x, Nvidia RTX 2070, 64 GB RAM) so as a solution, I wanted to export individul layers out to use as luma mattes for the time being (jpeg sequences).

For some reason the eported jpeg sequence doesn't align to the layer it was exported from. The first four frames, everything goes well, then a weird jump frame occurs where it drastically shifts down, nearly realigns, then continues drifiting away. I've lowered the track matte opacity so you can accurately see what I'm mentioning.

Does anyone know why this is happening? I've gotten the GPU acceleration error multiple times and software only doesn't load my timeline. Just looking for the best route to keep working headache free.

You could also have moved a layer. It is easy to do. I always lock the position of layers that I don't want to move while I'm masking or doing any other work that might move them. I've even saved it as an animation preset called Position Lock. Here's the expression:

[thisComp.width, thisComp.height] / 2

Thank you for the respnse sir. Went ahead and applied the expression/double checked any shifted layers but sadly, no change in outcome. 

 

Just left a reply above, the issue seems to relate to the jpeg/png sequence. It causes a strange frame skip. .avi and the dpx/tiff sequences exports work perfectly, but the sizes are too large to work for my current use.

Check the fps of your image sequence: right click > interpret footage.

You can change the standard image sequence fps in proeferences to your needs.

Yes sir, double checked that and the frame rates matched.

 

For some odd reason, the issue seems to be the jpeg and png sequences themselves. Would love some clarity from anyone, but when I eport as an .avi file or a dpx/tiff sequence, the issue is no loner there. Which is a shame since the exports are far too large to be practical in this scenario.

In your screenshot, the image sequence is shorter than the render area - if fps would be correct, they would line up.
