So Ive been working on a project and I saved it to work on it later, I opened the project via ( auto save) and I continued to work on my project. I opened a layer from composition and continued "painting" when done I wanted to add effect, so I went and clicked "Paint on transparent" but all the paint I applied after the Auto Save wasn't there????? What I painted earlier was there but the new paint was completely gone

It's a simple matter of ctl-s (won) or cmd-s (mac).  Don't rely on autosaves.  Save it yourself.

The autosave didn't save what you had most recently done.  Sorry.

firstly don't rely on auto save as your saved versions, it's for backup. you should increment and save.

now about your issue. if you don't click the "paint on transparent" are your strokes in there?

show us a full screenshot of your Ae interface with the layer highlighted and press UU so we can see all the modified properties.

Okay So I ended up going back to an earlier save and having to do all my work over again. The problem was I didn't "Paint" on the correct layer so none of it showed up.... I didn't know how to fix it so I just went back and painted on the correct layer and then clicked "Paint on transparent" and it showed and I was able to apply effects to just the Paint. Thanks for replying I didn't realize people would reply so fast I'm just now seeing this lol
