I really need some help.
I was editing in After Effects, everything was going smoothly. I changed some of my Advanced settings, nothing too significant. Then, I tested it out and changed it back. After that, my After Effects playback was working for a few seconds, then suddenly paused. I tried again- however, the problem didn't change. It also happened wherever I went in the composition. I even closed After Effects and tried again. I tried to see if this problem would happen when I did a new project, and it didn't mean it was this specific project. I don't understand this at all. At this point, YouTube won't help because it doesn't have any videos on this specific topic.
Feel Free to ask me for any additional screenshots or footage if it helps. I will try my best to answer any questions.

It's not really useful to share a file that is not public. that aside you have not offered any info about your composition, your system and so on and what settings you actually changed. AE doesn't just randomly switch to cached previews/ RAM previews for nothing. So by all means, you need to give us something to work with. Screenshots embedded via the camera icon will be better than externally shared files and then some additional info as well. Other than that the usual steps apply: Reboot your system, flush all caches in AE, double-check your settings.

If it only occurs for this project, the pertinent question would have to be if you actually have done the usual thing of clearing the caches. A tainted cache can easily explain all manner of issues. Also does the issue persist if you turn off audio? Have you tried to convert the audio sources to a different format? On a hunch this is most likely the actual problem with a bad MP3 file or whatever making a mess.
