After Effects Precomp Replaced With Rendered File After Exporting

I'm having a weird problem with a project where after I export the comp with a precomp in it, the precomp is replaced with the newly exported file, which is no good because I can't go back and make changes if needed.. Does anyone know what causes this?

You have enabled the respective replace function on the render settings panel. Check it!
