whenever I try to render it it just stops in the middle of video and I've been trying for hours to get it to work and it's still not working.

This thread is on a different topic - H264 compatibility/issues with the latesst release of AE - 17.0.5.
You should create a new thread on your issue. You MUST provide more info than what you have provided -
System Specs
OS
RAM & GPU Specs
And screen grabs of your timeline and Comp Panel. For the Timeline Panel, ensure you display all effects and if possible all keyframes.
Does the render stop at the same spot? What effects or keyframes do you have, which are current at that point in time?

Hi elzara,
I've branched your post into a new discussion so that we can help you better. As Roland said, the discussion where you had posted your comment was for a different topic.
Thanks,
Rameez

Most likely some layer/effect/footage is causing trouble.
So you have to preview render in full resolution until you hit the timecode where the rendering stops. Alternatively you can output your composition as image sequence. The last rendered image is the last "good" frame, one frame further the issue starts. As soon as you know the problematic timecode, you can have a close look to the layers, effects and footage in use. Switch them of and active them one by one until rendering fails again. This way you find the troublemaker and can solve it.

But once you find the clip that is causing the issue, what do you do? I am not even sure why this clip is because it comes from the same file as the other ones, and they work perfectly fine.

Once you've found the problem clip/footage, you look for clues at the time where the render fails. See if any keyframes or Expression or effects are applied to the clip and if these are causing the issue. Then you try to solve the problem on your own. If you require assistance, you post your issue; describing the issue and which effect/keyframe/Expression is causing the issue and we'll try to sort it out for you. HTH

Sometimes, as painful as it is, there might be no other option but to render out that small section as an image sequence and overlay it to replace the original. I've had renders where that was my only recourse as the time and months later had to rerender only to see everything work.
