I need help! Out of the blue I couldn't open after effects and got these two windows in succession. I did the whole renaming adobe after effects folder to oldaftereffects. Didn't work. Changed permissions for admin user to Read/Write, Didn't work. I was originally running 25.1, tried reinstalling older version 24.6.4. Still doesn't work. Can anyone direct me to some valuable solution?

Hi Erin,

This is one of the cases where you should probably contact us: https://adobe.ly/4i8JhWJ

The chat pod is on the lower-right. Once a live agent appears, insist on speaking with the "video queue."

These are specially trained agents in the digital video field that will not waste your time. I hope we can help you there.

Thanks,
Kevin

If you are familar with Terminal app operation, the use of sudo command is one of the choices to launch After Effects. You can see the permission is properly set or not.

Sometimes, a corrupt font causes such issues. Have you installed any new fonts recently? Go to the Font Book and validate the fonts. Check for errors. I'd recommend removing the ones with errors.

Let us know if that helps.

Nishu

I suspect it might be a font thing. BTW I had to uninstall and reinstall After Effects and only was able to get through the splash screen without errors via version 24.0 Now I'm wary to experiment each upgrade. I checked the font book app and ran validation. I didn't get any errors but had a few yellow icon "Minor problems were found. Proceed with caution." What should I do with these?

Thanks for trying. I'd suggest removing all the third-party fonts temporarily (don't forget to keep a backup of your font files). Then, add them back one by one and test After Effects. It's a lot of work but it'll help you find the exact font if that's the issue. Start with the yellow highlighted fonts. Of course, do this when you've some free time since After Effects 24.0 is working for you.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,
Nishu
