For a client i have created an AfterEffects file with a lot of Textlayers in a lot of compositions and a lot of expressions. The client has TTF and OTF files of his font. I created all the elements on a PC having the OTF fonts installed. When i open this file on a Mac with only installed OTF files the project loads in 15 seconds. When i open the file on the Mac with ONLY installed TTF files the AfterEffects projects needs 2 minutes and more to load and open up.
Does anyone has a clue why that is?
Is the TTF file format just slower than the OTF?
Does AfterEffects somehow saves an information what file format you used to create a text layer?
Would it open faster if i would create all the compostions on a computer with only TTF installed font files?
I have no idea for an explanation?
Can anyone HELP PLEASE????

TTF files are outdated/ deprecated and the most likely cause your project takes so long to open is that the system and the Adobe apps need to build a font cache first because they are not activated and cached by default. That and of course there are various security mechanisms on Mac that are problematic with legacy file formats to begin with. Just escalating the security context and scanning the TTF files may also contribute to the slowdown. You should avoid using TTF alltogether these days, with the added caveat being that there is even different TTFs for Mac and PC. So substituting one bad solution for another won't do much to improve the situation. Instead it may be smart to advise the client to update his fonts to OTF versions.
