I fixed the problem; somehow after updating to AE 18.2 file extensions .png and .jpg where gone.

For example before update a fle was: cloud.png and after update: cloud (without .png)

I imported the files again and replaced every single item with the new imported files. A lot of of work but it fixed the problem.

Strange, but I think theres is something woring with the update AE 18.2

Hi defaultghxs8a5e54b1,

That's not ideal. Sorry for your issue.

Are you able to open any other project or does it happen with all the projects that you try to open? Did you use any third-party plug-in while working on the project? Also, have you tried importing it in a new blank project?

Let us know if it helps.

Thanks,

Nishu

Hello, I am the creator of VoluMax 6 for AE (sold on Videohive).
I am having a lot of customers on Mac Os contacting for this same problem :After Effects error: the file format module could not parse the file ( 45 :: 36)
I have almost 20K customers for this template and this issue is becoming a major problem for me and the thousand of other authors on Videohive having similar issues with their templates.
I updated the template already by re-saving all the Jpegs with Photoshop updated but this didn't work.
I am going to try to replace manually each JPEG, MOV and PNG in the project panel to see if it works...
Please investigate on this error because it is going to become a major issue for AE.

The way I solve the problem is to downgrade AE to 18.1

Adobe released an update 18.2.1 yesterday, that might be a good one...
