Animating photos

Hello, im trying to animate this photo with after effects, and i'm trying to make this austronant breath from his chest  how can i add this motion? and then add an effect of a face fading in and out. thanks guys i would really appricated.astronaut-1840936_1920-1.jpg

Probably the easiest thing to do is duplicate the layer, draw a mask around the part you want to make breathe, then apply a distortion effect like Bulge or Magnify to the masked duplicate layer above. Feather the mask a bit to camouflage the edges.

I downloaded your screenshot, duplicated the layer twice, masked out the head,

animated the position a little up and down and added a loopOut("pingpong") expression, then masked out the main part of the body:

then added Bulge, set the parameters and animated the Bulge Height from 0 to .2 and added the same loopOut expression. The mask was feathered as shown. You are seeing every modification to every layer. The end result as an animated Gif with about 10 minutes of work.

This should give you the idea. There are lots of ways to animate the chest, this is one of the simplest.
