Hello everyone,
My workplace has just converted from PC to Mac - one of the major issues we've found is that the pre-installed version of Quicktime (10.5) on our Mac does not support anything rendered with the Animation codec, this includes all of the .mov and .avi video files that I need as part of my templates. As a result, After Effects also gives me the "file type unsupported" error message whenever I try to link the footage.
I'm wondering what the best solution to this problem is?
Is there a way to install the Animation codec into Quicktime?
Or would it be better to convert my files to a different file type/codec and export them as such from now on?
For context, the videos have 2D motion graphics with a transparent background (so I can overlay them onto other footage), hence the need for the Animation codec.

Yes, use ProRes. This is nothing you can fix and from here on out things will only get worse with these legacy CoDecs.
