i made a new comp with just this one audio file and when i put it into after effects it takes out like one layer (?) of the song when put in after effects. like the song sounds like its missing a whole instrument. it sounds normal in the regular audio file and it still does it even with a whole different video from a different platform of the same song. ive tried different downloaders and restarted, just not really sure whats happening
it fixes once rendered, but i would like to be able to hear the missing part while editing

Hi Nina,
Thanks for writing in.
The audio sounds really different in After Effects. I see that you imported an MP4 file. Can you try transcoding it into a wav file using Media Encoder and import into After Effects?
Let us know if it helps.
Thanks,
Nishu

Have you checked the footage interpretation? Playing back the file at a slower speed would inevitably bring back some of the sounds gobbled up by their speedup, especiually when it's so minute. Otherwise converting the file to a more robust format liek WAV might be advisable. I'd also check the file in Audition for a realistic impression of what it is supposed to look and sound like, given how it has been tampered with.
