Black vertical lines when scrubbing timeline

New Here ,
Oct 20, 2018 Oct 20, 2018

Hi!

I am having an issue with black vertical lines appearing while I scrub the timeline in after effects. They disappear when the mouse button is released.

I have an HP Omen coffee lake laptop, with an nvidia 1060 graphics card and the latest nvidia driver installed. I am running windows 10, which says everything is up to date. I have tried after effects 2018 as well as 2019 with the same issue.

I have also tried adjusting the text size in the system control panel.

TIA for any info!

Try changing the display acceleration, make sure your GPU drivers are up-to-date and make sure your version of AE is current.

Hey Rick,

Thanks for the reply. Unfortuntately, I do have the latest versions of the drivers as well as After Effects. I did try disabling hardware acceration in After Effects. That was interesting to fiddle with; alas, the lines are still there. Oh well, at least it doesn’t affect the rendering.

Thanks again!

I also have this problem, on two different pc's- one at work and at home

both windows 10 - after effects 2019

black vertical lines

strangely one pc you can get rid of it by turning down the scaling of windows 10 to 100-150% but thats not really practical for me as 175% is the sweet spot, but the other pc makes no difference with scaling

i will add that both pcs are using 4k monitors

any solution?- its more annoying than anything else-  this was a glitch a few versions back

ps

1080ti up to date

windows 10 up to date

It's really REALLY annoying that we still have these issues in 2018. I have had 4K monitors for 2-3 years now and I can't use them to their potential because of this issue. The only way to make these lines disappear is to set the display to the Windows recommended setting for Text, apps and other items of 200% which of course makes everything big and bunch up together.

I want to use my monitors at at least 175% to get more real state and resolution, but these black lines are just annoying, and I doubt it's a Windows 10 issue because I use Cinema 4D as well, and their timeline has no issues whatsoever. By the way, in C4D you have the option to change the size of the icons and text.

For anyone interested I'm on Windows 10 (up to date) using 2 1080Tis (up to date Nvidia drivers) and both my monitors are plugged in using Display port.

I really wish the After Effects team would focus on these small issues and configurations. it's 2018, everyone has 4K displays.
