I have scene built with Adobe Illustrator objects and a camera (All objects are on the same plane along the Z). When I track my camera along the Z to get a closer shot everything is out of focus.

My camera settings are:

Focal Length - 50mm
Enable Depth of Field - Off
Lock to Zoom - On

99.997% chance this is user error. First, as has been suggested, make sure that Continuous Rasterization is turned on. Second, to troubleshoot always make sure that the comp is set to Classic 3D. The last step is to select all layers and press the U key twice to reveal all modified properties. If "Depth of Field"  is on for the camera layer it will show up. If there are filters or effects applied to other layers they will show up. If you can't figure out the problem post a screenshot with the modified properties of all layers revealed. You could have raster effects applied to the AI files or a few other things going on because the AI files were not prepared properly for use in a compositing app like AE.
