When you say import from the camera, do you mean the camera is plugged in when you import? Or are you transferring to a hard drive first?

Tried both scenario. i think the import script is corrupted but somehow the settings stays even with clean reinstall.

I realize now that you're talking about the CAMERA RAW interface; that wasn't clear from your initial post as I thought you just meant that you couldn't import the file normally.
I just tried importing an .ARW file into After Effects and there was a pop-up window behind the RAW interface that talked about the new Camera Raw version which is 15.4.1. The import progress bar was indeed stuck at 0% UNTIL I clicked the "get started" button on that pop-up window and then the image file opened in RAW.
So: make sure that you have the latest verison of Camera Raw installed. And then see if you can click that Get Started button to initiate the import. If you don't see that pop-up, make sure it's not buried behind another window or perhaps on a second monitor. Alternately, you can try launching Photoshop or another application that uses Camera Raw and see if you can dismiss the pop-up there (you shoud only have to do it once for your system).

The problem with my environment is that the "get started" thing failed to pop up hence crashed the whole program. And Adobe has the bad habits of keeping old settings even with clean uninstalls for whatever reasons so the only way for me is to wipe my whole windows and reinstall everything, just for the sake of fixing this mess. well done adobe

Yea, thanks for the tip. However I did not get the pop up as you mentioned so everything stayed the same unfortunately.

Did you already wipe the computer? If not, there's a cleaner app from Adobe for fixing the Creative Cloud install. Worth trying before you nuke everything.
Also, you didn't mention if you deleted your AE prefernces yet. That can be done on launch or manually tossed before you open the application.

Sorry to hear that you had to nuke it. Did that at least fix the issue?

Import using Camera Raw is working just fine on my M2 MacBook Pro, AE 23.

Yes sir, I would imagine 99.99% of the users have no problem. Something went wrong for my environment unfortunately and adobe does not allow for clean uninstallation (complete deletion of files eg. logs, settings, registry) leads to unsolvable situation.

Could you try reinstalling Camera RAW using the link in this article: https://helpx.adobe.com/camera-raw/kb/camera-raw-plug-in-installer.html?mv=product&mv2=accc. If this does not help, please let us know which version of After Effects you're currently working with (Help > About After Effects).

I'm having issues importing ARW now. it was working yesterday but i just updated my After Effects and also OSX, so one of them broke.
in After Effects, when i try import ARW with all files, i get error:
Encountered errors while importing selected items.
1) After Effects error: The file format is not supported.
2) After Effects error: file 'DSCO1370.ARW' cannot be imported - this 'arw' file is damaged or unsupported.
In photoshop try to import as all documents, i get error:
Could not complete your request because Photoshop does not recognize this type of file.
i can still open with lightroom.
let me know if this is caused by laterst AE update or OSX issue.
thanks,
t
