Can't Use 3D Objects In After Effects!

New Here ,
Jun 26, 2018 Jun 26, 2018

So I watched this tutorial: How to insert 3D objects | Adobe Creative Cloud - YouTube . I followed each step exactly until it came near the end. One of the final steps was to change the renderer to "Standard(Final)", but when I do that, my 3D object just disappears! no matter what I do, it doesn't reappear unless I set it back to "Software". Now, someone might ask why don't I just use the "Software" option. It's because, with that enabled, a grid forms beneath my object and my object turns slightly transparent. I am running After Effects CC 2018 on a Lenovo Ideapad 100 running Windows 10. Please help!

What David is trying to say, but couldn't do so cordially, is that your machine is really underpowered for what you're trying to do. Looks like Lenovo Ideapad 100 has 4GB memory. Standard Renderer in 3D is a pretty intensive process. That may not 100% be the problem but troubleshooting an advanced process with a system that is EXACTLY at After Effect's minimum requirements is not going to return much useful data.

Ah, you gotta love people who try to run an application that operates comfortably starting with 16 gigs of memory on a flippin' tablet......

First check all modified properties on the layer that is giving you problems by hitting the U key twice. Start resetting things or turning things off until you fix the problem. If that doesn't help we need to know all of your settings and have a much better understanding of your system and your workflow. There is probably a switch somewhere that is improperly set. It could be in C4D or in AE.

What happens if you let it sit for a while after you change it to Standard (Final)? It might just be taking a while to chug through the calculations.

I believe that tablet has an i3, no? Even with 8GB RAM, that's not a lot to do final rendered 3D. Do you have a more powerful machine to test the project on?

Tablet, laptop, it's only meant as a qualitative assessment insomuch as it is underpowered for what you're trying to do.
