So I've been trying to move my parallel light behind this 3D object in AE, so the shadows will be casted towards the camera, but whenever I move it behind the whole environment turns black. I imported the 3d object with Element 3D and I tried to rotate it in all orientations but the shadows are still casted away from the camera.
The Element 3D is a layer indeed, but moving the light behind the 3d object without everything turning black only works in Draft 3D mode, which I think is quite weird.
I've tried to search all over the web for a way to make it work properly, but I cannot find any topics about it, so I decided to bring it up myself.
Here's a gif that explains my problem:
Here's a gif where I do the same as the above but with Draft 3D enabled:
I really want to be able to cast the shadows towards the camera so it looks like the lights comes from outside the window at the statues.
You need to add some ambient light. Try setting the value to about 40% and see what you get. With ambient light:

Ambient light seems to be the fix for this! Works best especially with raytrace shadows, thanks for the help.

That's a limitation of how stencil-based shadows are calculated. You would have to use raytrace shadows, if at all, or switch to a spot light.

Raytrace shadows gives me the same results I'll try with spot light instead though.
