Cannot open prefrences (bach ball of death)

After Effects CC 2018 is working fine apart from, I cannot access preferences, this cause the app to freeze ... help?

Can you provide more information about which version of AE you're using (technical version number for the About... screen) and the platform ands specs of the computer you're using it with.

Start by pressing Shft + Ctrl + Alt on Windows or Shft + Alt + Cmd on Mac just when you click on the App icon to start, to reset to factory values. Try with that to see what else can be done in case it does not work for you.
