Change settings on multiple groups in shape layer all at once

Hi there,

I was wondering if there is a way to change the settings on all Groups in a Shape layer all at once?

For example I want to adjust the Stroke width and Taper % on all groups.

Selecting all groups and changing the settings (like one would to with Layers) doesn't seem work.

And if I copy an adjusted Stroke setting of one Group - then select the rest of the Groups of that layer - and then 'Paste' this - it adds a second Stroke on each Group.

I am creating animations from stroke illustrations made in Illustrator, which can have many Shape laye Groups when I convert them using ''Create shapes from vector layer' - some have up to 500...

For now it looks like I can only change setting manually per Group - so if somebody has an answer for this it would save me A LOT of time 🙂

PS I am using the latest version of CC on Mac

You could rig up the whole thing with simple property links/ pickwhip expressions, but with that number of layers there'll always be a lot of manual work. Also keep in mind that the order of the elements within a shape layer group matters. You may be able to get a good part of your setup optimized by having only one stroke at the bottom of all your paths and if you do this for enough groups based on how their taper needs to be set up you'll be halfway there already.

Hi Mylenium!

Yes, that is exactly what I need.. didn't know I could add a Stroke outside a group for ALL groups in this kind of setup - thanks so much for your help 🙂

And yes - it still remains labour intensive for sure.. but I try to get my layers sorted according to Stroke style in Illustrator already 😉
