Changing thumbnail of MOGRT

New Here ,
Sep 18, 2025 Sep 18, 2025

Hi,

I am trying to change the thumbnail of my MOGRT files to an image that is not present in the graphic itself. This is so when looking at the essentials graphics panel in Premiere, the graphics are categorised.

I have tried adding the image, using set poster time then hiding the image before exporting. However it seems the poster time image must be present in the graphic when exporting.

I have tried to set the image outside of the graphic timeline e.g -00.00.01 but this also does not work.

I have read about extracting the thumb.png and changing this but can't figure out how to then put the extracted files back into a MOGRT file.

please help!! Thank you 🙂

Thanks for writing in, Jess.

This feature is not available yet. However, here's a workaround that should help: https://adobe.ly/4miZABX

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks,
Nishu

Drop the image you want to use for the thumbnail in the timeline, make sure you are in the Extended Graphics workspace, Choose Set Poster Frame, then delete the thumbnail layer. I do it all the time.
