Hey,

I was wondering if someone could help. I'm trying to animate a word so that it starts with a jumble of numbers and symbols, scrolls through randomly and ends with the word underneath. I can do it with letters turning into a word but not symbols. Any help would be really appreciated.

Thanks!!

If you want symbols you need to use a font that has symbols. Not all do. The Decoder Fade In animation preset will do the random characters.

Probably the easiest solution would be to start with two text layers, add Decoder Fade In and Random Fade In to the top text layer and random fade out to the bottom. Use a Symbol font for the top layer and adjust the range selector and values to get what you want.

Or you could do it by scratch by adding a character offset and opacity animator to both layers, each with their own range selector and fiddle with the values. That's the only way can think of to get symbols into the mix.
