Composition is totally black and very slow

Hi, I've been using AE on my machine for years without any problem at all

But, recently is giving me loads of issues.

I create a new composition (e.g. white background) and the composition screen is always black and I can not work.

Also, the whole software is going unbelievably slow.

Do you have any idea?

The zoomlevel and comp display is weird.

We got an update yesterday, you are on the latest version right now. The issue could be related to the update.

Updated GPU drivers, consider a clean install of AE, clear cache and preferences as first steps of troubleshooting.

Yes – zoom is weird because I was trying to look for the composition.

Besides what has already been said about that zoom level...1.5%?  That is very zoomed in but as far as the black goes, you may just simply have your background set to black (which is more common than white).  Have you tried building on the comp?

try to add some element and see what you will get also try to reset your workspace go to Windows/Workspace/Reset...

Yours looks to be different to me.  I see a red solid in the comp but no red solid in the view panel.

When you say you upgraded to CC2019 do you mean the recent update yesterday for 16.1?

I am having exactly the same issue and there is always a message "Cache Preview needs 2 or more frames for playback". It all started after the AE and MacOS updates. In addition, there is no update available for NVIDIA GeForce for Mac.
