No workflow, system, and project details = no chance for anything but a guess. You might be running out of system resources or you might have an incompatible GPU driver, or you might be using a corrupted source file. If we knew a little bit more about what you are tiring to do and how you are trying to do it, we might have a better chance of giving you some meaningful suggestions.

I have same problem (when rendering video no message or anything just after some sec it turns oof totally my pc without any message-ADOBE pls make it at least check if it can render it since it doesnt make auto save before render it looks so )and it looks like it related to power supply ability, cos I just reinstal windows and it can not be any other problem since all drivers and everything I set up works fine.

Posible solutions:

1)buy more capable power supply,

2) run a check of power supply ability and see if its it.

The entire system turning itself off sounds like the CPU overheating.  It seems lke themost obvious explanation since it's happening during rendering.  You could run a temp monitoring app to watch the temperatures while it renders.  If that's what it is, check that your heat sink isn't clogged up with dust and applying a fresh layer of thermal paste to the cpu will likely fix it.

A few years later....

im having this problem for the first time and I've been using AE for 20 years.  I have a very cool running water cooled machine with AMD 3990X 128 cores 256gb ram and dual Nvidia gtx 3090 ti cards.  It also has 9TB SSD RAID.  AE barely uses the resources I have.  Ram is the only thing that is going up past 200 GB on this 4K EXR sequence.  Computer just turns off about 1/2 way through the render.  I'm having to render a sequence instead which interrupts my whole workflow.  Did you ever figure out why this was happening? I'm guessing it's either an AE update or a HPU driver update.  Those tend to cause most of my grief but no idea this time.

An outdated GPU driver is one of the common reasons why it could happen. Try updating your GPU driver to the latest Studio Driver from the Nvidia website.

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks,
Nishu

Hi, I have a 5900x, 64gb ddr4, rtx 5080, Chieftec Polaris 1050w 3.0 power supply, Kingston kc3000 2tb SSD, windows 11, all drivers are updated, and I'm facing the same issue as you. My PC shuts down under heavy load in 4k rendering or when using plugins like autofill 2. Disabling Multi-Frame Rendering helped resolve the problem.

Are there any error messages or crash reports? Do you get a blue screen when your computer crashes?

Thanks,
Nishu

this happenings while after effects is on heavy load. I work in 4K 50fps, that's standard for my company. Sometimes only crash the after, often shutdown PC. It's happening on two windows PC stations. And its not hardware related,  we have powerful computers. 128GB RAM DDR5 and so on. Our IT reinstall software, try everything and didn't help. Please, we are looking for update as soon as possible

I tried to remove the xmp profile and set the RAM frequency lower today. I have a Ryzen 9 5900x processor, 4 8GB RAM sticks, and a 3600MHz frequency in the xmp profile. I lowered it to 3400MHz, and the PC stopped shutting down when rendering a heavy scene in the preview and working with plugins that used to cause it to shut down on the 3rd preview frame. Try lowering the RAM frequency slightly below what it currently is.

Thanks for sharing the screenshot.

The error in the screenshot indicates that this is related to an outdated/corrupted driver. In more cases, it's the GPU driver. Try installing the latest GPU driver if you're not already using one. If you've an Nvidia GPU, then install the latest Studio driver. Let me know your system specs if you continue to experience the issue.

Thanks,
Nishu

We already did that. We tried several versions of the drives. It didn’t make any difference.

Try optimising your GPU settings in Windows Graphics settings for After Effects. Here's how: https://adobe.ly/3WiDt48

If you're using an Nvidia GPU, change the Power Management Mode to Maximum Performance in the Nvidia Control Panel: https://adobe.ly/3Wj8KUx

Let me know if that helps.

Thanks,
Nishu
