Control the width of Text using a slider 

 

I created this tutorial after seeing several posts a few weeks ago asking how to set the width of text in pixels.  While you cannot do that directly, this method uses expressions linked to a slider to get a usable result.  It keeps the scale correct, but let's you control how many words per line you want and makes it easy to adjust.

The expression appears complicated, but I take you through it line by line, explaining what each element does. But if you're not interested in code, which is totally fine, then you can download the preset from the link below.

Quick note: This expression does not work with AE's old ExtendScript, make sure you change Expressions language by going to File - Project Settings
