Create custom hotkey for highlighted layers

Hi all,

I was wondering if there was an option for creating your own hot key to select multiple layers.
So say I have 20 total layers. Nearly every 20th frame I need to readjust the positioning of the same 8 layers. I do this by CTRL+Click each layer to highlight all 8 then move their position in unison. I'm not looking to create a custom "group" for these 8 layers, or attach them to Null, but I was wondering if I could create my own hot key, where if I hit the hotkey, all 8 layers would automatically be highlighted so I don't have to CTRL+Click each individual 8 layers every time.

Not possible with the built in hot-keys, but you can write your own script to do such a thing if you have to knowledge and time. Using an Null and parenting is way faster.

You might not be aware of the fact, that you can unparent and delete the null while keeping the layers positions. So you can create a temporally null for those position adjustments.

Create a null.  Parent all the layers in question to it.  Animate the null and the other layers move with it.  No time-consuming evaluation of expressions necessary.

You can assign a color to layers using the little colored square icon in the timeline. You can either shift select or Ctrl/Cmnd to select a bunch of layers that are not stacked right on top of each other. Layers that have the same color form a Label Group. You can click on the layer color and select the Label Group. I do this all the time. It is a great organizational tool.
