I have complex project with multiple precompositions.
If I want to make one animation shorter and make everything that follows appear that much earlier how do I approach this?
Selecting all the layers and moving them specific amount and all time keyfreames and doing it all in all different precompositions. Very timeconsuming and I am lucky if there are no mistakes.

I don't think there's any easy solution to this. I mean, precomping IS the solution. But it sounds like you've already precomped. With big projects I try to work in "blocks" or "sections" as much as possible and precomping those. So if I want to make one section faster or add a new sections in between, I can just grab all other sections/blocks and drag them around/forward/backward.

I like that "sections" idea. That would mean I could possibly avoid too many layers filling the screen. Precoming horizontally instead of vertically, if you know what I mean.
I have full length precomps at the moment and it has its own keyframes attach to it. Maybe I'll try duplicating at cutting it.

Drop your finalized composition into a new composition, then apply Time Remapping to the nested composition. All of the timing can be adjusted without problems.

As the others already suggested, adding one more level of nesting/ pre-composing is the way to go.

Thanks. Pretty good ideas. I guess I learn from experience and next time have thorough planning before.
Precomping and timeremaping means I need to be sure that content is finalized
