Effects leaving clip when clip is pre-comped

I have clips in my main comp that I've done a bunch of work on (trimming, cropping, effects such as keylight and other stylization effects) and when I attempt to pre-comp the clip, none of the effects or transform controls applied to the individual clip show in in the new comp. In fact I'm just seeing the raw clip in the new comp with no adjustments at all. However in the main comp, all of the effects still seem to be applied to the pre-comp and appears the same as before. Is this normal? Is there something I'm doing wrong? I expected the size of the pre-comp to revert back to the settings of the raw clip but not all of the effects to dissapear.

I"m trying to get these pre-comped so I can use them in different versions of the same project as well as export individually.

Any help is greatly appreaciated.

Depends on the "Move attributes" option you chose and soemtimes even then certain constructs won't pre-compose due to how AE's rendering order works. Impossible to say more than that based on your limited info.
