Error loading AE - no code given

This is the only error message I get -After Effects can’t continue: unexpected failure during application startup...any suggestions?

Without any system info and ideally the relevant system crash info nobody can tell you much. This error is not uncommon and can be anything from permissions issues to failed hardware acceleration to compatibility issues on M1 Macs, so unless you provide more details this would only be unproductive endless guessing around.

Apparently it was an issue with my OS (Catalina) so adobe helped me to load an older version of AE...but thanks for responding
