Exported files are way too big.

Hello.
So I just finished a music video, which is long 3:19 minutes, and the size of if it 35 gbs. Why is it so big? Also, whenever I make an animation around 10-15 secs it's around 2 gbs. The comp settings of the 3:19 min video are 1920x1080p, 30fps, quality - best, resolution full, color management sRGB IEC61966-2.1 with blended colors using 1.0 gamma. I use quite a lot of effects but 35 gbs ? I don't think that's right.

Size depends on the codec your are rendering to.

Such huge files aren't unusual, if you are rendering to uncompressed avi, for example.

Maybe 2 approaches would work -

Firstly decide how you are going to use the finished video

ie. will you publish it on Youtube or video stream it on a website.

Then set it to render with appropriate settings  - put it in the render queue then go to where it says 'Lossless' in blue. Click the down arrow to the left of it and select a compressed codec.

Alternatively, you could try going to the same place and choosing 'custom....' then change from AVI to 'Quicktime' or something like that.

I'm no expert but in my experience, AVI files tend to be huge. Changing the file type but not adding any compression may reduce the file size, it will still be big but hopefully more manageable than 35gigs. You could then use Media Encoder to process it for different uses.
