Hello!
I have few questions/issues regarding After Effects 2020 v17. If anyone could possibly provide me some insight, answers and/or solutions that would be greatly appreciated. I'm noticing a few issues with fonts. When selecting font choice under 'Character', at least 2 different instances (in the last 2 days) where installed fonts are nowhere to be found/seen in After Effects, but visible in every other application (i.e. Photoshop and Illustrator). I read a suggestion someone had made regarding the issue (which apparently isn't new or uncommon?) to uninstall and reinstall the font, to which does work. I'm not sure why this is now starting to happen, but it's frustrating to say the least.
The other issue at hand is when opening a template that alerts me to a missing font, when I search for missing fonts in the document - nothing appears? The search feature worked fine in the previous version v16.1.3 - I'm not sure why now it doesn't?
I'm working on an iMac 18,3 (Intel Core i7, 4.2GHz)
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Thank You.

I tried this to get it to work in Id and it still refused to pull them, even though I could search my font and add it as an option it defaulted to standard paragraph in the document. Incredibly frustrating!

Converting TTF to OTF and uninstall the former TTF fonts, re-install the OTF fonts helped solve the problem.
Thank you so much for the answer. I hope Adobe would see this thread, even if it's difficult to solve the TTF compatible issue, simply adding a comment in the font panel mentioning that TTF won't work would be quite helpful

Pretty much the same issue for me. Sans Source Pro Regular disappeared and I got various error messages. Chatted online and talked with Adobe support. Tried all the "fixes." No solutions. Just today, someone from Adobe called and told me it's an ongoing issue that will be addressed in CC2021!! Are you kidding me?
I waited a month to find that out. Ugh.

Same problems...
no way to load Adobe fonts in After Effects cc 2021 from the official Adobe fonts.adobe.com
Incredible...

Downloading and using OTF files instead of TTF files worked for me as well as some other people in this thread.
Hopefully that helps with your issue.

I'm having the same problem in After Effects 2021 but only in one composition for some reason. They're active in every other comp? Anyone have any idea why this could be? Thank you!

I have the full Source Sans Pro font family loaded and only 8 of the 12 styles are available in AE (and they are mostly italics not the Regular or Bold weights I really need). Ugh. Uninstalled the variable version. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling the font. Tried importing a text layer from Illustrator. I was able to import a text layer from Photoshop and convert to editable text which is getting me by for the moment but this is a huge pain. Super frustrating to say the least! Is there a fix coming?

Hey!
I was dealing with this exact same problem I found a solution that worked.
Go to Adobe fonts (through your creative cloud account) and deactivate all the fonts that you are not using.
Then reactivate the font family (Poppins in my case).
Hope, this works for you 🙂

Adobe tech support finally solved my problem after four months when a tech who previously worked at Microsoft dug deep into my registry and found some corrupt font files.

Hey! Two possible solutions that have worked for me:
1. Download the OTF file for the font rather than the TTF.
2. Go into Adobe Creative Cloud, search for the font, and then "activate it".
Cheers!

I've tried deactivating fonts with similar names but every time I open up this particular project, Creative Cloud thinks it knows better and reactivates two font families with the same name that I had mistakenly downloaded when trying to solve this font linking issue.
