Hello, I'm new to after effects and I want to add a gradient with 3 colors on a layer. I've tried the effect "Range of gradients" but it only allows me to chose 2 colors but not a transition color between the 2 colors. I've also tried "4 points gradient" with 2 of the colors being the same but then the gradient can only be radial and not linear. So how can I create a linear gradient with 3 colors or can I chose a transition color for the effect "Range of gradients" ? thank's for the help, looking forward for your answers !

I've got a couple of potential suggestions for you, depending on the specifics of your project:

1. Create a shape layer and take advantage of its more flexible Gradient Fill. You could use the shape layer itself if your object is simple, or use your original layer as a track matte for the shape layer if it's more complicated.

2. Use the Gradient Ramp effect, keeping it with the black & white, and arrange your gradient as desired. Apply the Tritone effect to get the middle color. You could add a Curves or Levels effect above Tritone if you want to customize the black-to-white gradient before it's recolored. If you need a more complex gradient here, you could do the same using CC Toner or Colorama.

3. This gets a little fiddly, but you can stack multiple instances of Gradient Ramp, using effect masks to restrict the visibility of one of the instances.

Let me know if you need further direction on any of the above!
