The Adobe site/After Effects has a great set of getting started tutorials: https://www.adobe.com/apps/all/all-platforms/pdp/after-effects?source=apps

@chiscara.

Something that can make following tutorials easier is when they're part of the same, structured training where the skills learned progress from beginner, to intermediate, to advanced.  In addition to the training that Rick Gerard linked to, Adobe also provides https://adobevideotraining.com/after-effects/introductory-courses/.  There are also a good amount of structured self-paced online training option available like LinkedIn Learning (check it your local public library about free ac

There are also a good amount of structured self-paced online training option available like LinkedIn Learning (check it your local public library about free access with lesson files), School of Motion, Jake in Motion, Ben Marriot, and others.

While self-paced courses are great, some of us learn better from a live instructor.  There may be a training center in your area that offers two-day workshops, boot camps, or one-on-one training with an instructor..  Or, a college in your area may offer a continuing education course that's open to anyone.  While it doesn't sound like this is what you're looking for, you could also look into formal training in a program somewhere (SCAD, Art Center, CalArts, UCLA, Santa Monica College or the like).

It can also help to determine what you want to use After Effects for (broadcast design, opening titles, show opens, music videos, social media videos, animated UI design, animation/anime, special effects, 3d finishing, etc.) to help refine the type of training and mentoring that you look for.
